I’ve been thinking about this a lot and I’ve found a weird trend with the way a decent amount of people discuss England in regards to him being a caretaker of nations when they were younger, mostly Alfred and Matthew. This, however, is not a big deal, and I’m kind of just putting my thoughts into the ether lmao.
People seem to have an odd penchant for making gay characters, especially those with children, woobified, for lack of a better term. A not-insignificant amount of posts use language like motherly and maternal instincts and such to describe England’s relationship with his children, and are generally averse to much masculinity in these caretaker-oriented headcanons. It is, as I said, not really a big deal, but it does strike me as somewhat sexist and with a dose of gender essentialism. When you necessitate femininity for caregivers, it’s alluding to the notion that to raise children is a feminine job, and also that like. Men can’t be adequate caregivers if they’re masculine and yea I’m. It’s not that big of a deal, just rambling lmaO
