i always love the arakawa sense of humor, can always trust her to make me chuckle. the healthcare joke, gdi i love u woman

the fact that the daemons are always in pairs is so interesting, it's just such a fun way to design powers and i'm enjoying seeing the ideas so far. it does at first glance make left/right a little odd (like yes they seem like opposites but not as clearly symbolically like a rabbit and tortoise etc.)

makes me smile thinking of haruo and bunny, loved the bunny being a menace to right but then them immediately being terrified back

i do wish there had been a way to convey this "pairs" language in the english translation, since with the daemon terminology and how it was introduced this really wasn't clear at the start (i thought yoru was just lucky to have two).

i think the two fish are kinda cute as well lol. reminds me a bit of hxh shizuku. probably my fave daemon pair design (both design wise and powers wise) so far, it's just... a satisfying power combination that i Get and just Makes Sense.

jin in general i thought he'd be more of those... untouchable ice king characters and he very much turned out not to be lol. i liked yoru using his skills to outmatch him but also deciding to trust him for hosting seeing his sis again.

but yeah no way you're getting your parents back soon (if at all) - that would answer too many questions right away bud

i did peek a bit at reddit and it's truly just 1-2 chaps and ep which is interesting! like i feel like i'd breeze through 10 chapters in an hour. it has been a while since i had an anime first journey (or more so that i'm allergic to watching shows where i read the manga first) but i'm enjoying the pacing. makes me wonder how many pages a typical chap is, and what its release sched is.

and also i'm glad i had zero spoilers going in bc the MODERN CIV reveal gave me and yoru a scare at the same time lol. i was not expecting guns, i truly had no idea going in. also the onigiri sakuga! and the present but not too much jokes about him (plus left and right) adjusting to the modern world are funny and entertaining and add some nice lightness.

i also did read, well not major spoilers just conjecture that this is basically a mafia family gang war. and hmmmmm. i don't know if i'm fully drawn in by the story, but the combined elements of arakawa writing (i just always feel like she's writing with planning and specific intentions), the humor balance, the voice acting is incredible too, and interesting powers.

still feel weird abt how brutally gabby went after the village + killing everyone she came across, but along with this and nobody questioning the girl being raised behind bars i trust the arakawa storytelling to come thru, i will just need a sprinkle of patience. and i did enjoy the touch with her making gravestones for the daemons / she seems to really care about daemons as a species.

but with how daemons get killed it makes me wonder how are like... daemons created? are they just like an infinite resource? need background there as soon as the story can give it

ngl with the word daemon i'll always associate it w/ his dark materials first. oddly not so much daemon from night school which is probably first exposure but HDM wins by word count ig ahaaa

it'll be interesting reading the manga here afterwards!! i wonder how long the chaps are and how long the series is currently

and the sibs so far... i do enjoy yoru's level of cunning and intelligence as a protagonist so far (smart but not untouchable smart yano) but i have to say, i will never get or enjoy brocon or siscon stuff. i think here at least there's narrative support for why asa would be so starved for affection from her sibling, but seeing it animated at this degree is offputting to me. i am looking forward to seeing where it goes and develops though!
