Announcement Regarding the Passing of Wakana Yamazaki, Voice of Ran Mouri

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of voice actress Wakana Yamazaki, who portrayed Ran Mouri in Detective Conan for nearly 30 years since the television series first began airing in 1996. We hereby extend our deepest condolences.

All of the Detective Conan production staff would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for Ms. Yamazaki’s tremendous dedication to the series and her many years of invaluable contribution to the work. We sincerely pray for her peaceful repose.

Please note that this matter is as announced by her agency, Aoni Production Co., Ltd.

In addition, we have received the following comment from the original creator, Gosho Aoyama, which we would like to share below.

Original Creator Gosho Aoyama:

“It is incredibly heartbreaking to think that I will never again hear that gentle, comforting voice that always felt so naturally close by…”

As for the role of Ran Mouri going forward, with deep respect for the character Ms. Yamazaki carefully nurtured over the years, Akemi Okamura will continue the role.

All of the production staff will continue to carry forward the legacy and feelings that Ms. Yamazaki engraved into this work with the utmost care.

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to all the fans who have warmly supported the series throughout the years.

Once again, we pray that Wakana Yamazaki may rest in peace.

hello nonnyyyy thank u for your question 🥺 pinching ur cheek gently... doing just one felt a bit half assed but then doing more than one i was liek : ) oh how about this one too? and i got longwinded as hell so i hope you dont ragret asking HAHA 😭

i love a lot of fics for a variety of reasons so i just picked some that i have somewhat strong visual associations* for. hypocritical for a guy making people pick just one to pick several? yes. but im also not entering them into a drawing so 😭 im allowed! (executive decision!!)

but i digress. in order of increasing rating:

names in the sand by cleflink / teen / kaishin i really like the premise of this one! ive always really really enjoyed folklore horror, so of course this would interest me. i've also been wanting to draw something from this for a while--the kitsune mask and the forest and the (spoilers redacted) are really compelling, but somehow despite having so many individual aspects i want to draw, i haven't been able to come up with a satisfying idea yet : (

a window to the sky by imagineering / teen / kaishin ive already drawn something from this one a little over a year ago but quite frankly i've been wanting to revisit it and finish some of the ideas i had for it initially that i wasn't good enough to draw at the time. in addition to it hitting the 'sometimes things take years and years to resolve and you may not be there now but it doesn't mean you never will be' hollowness in me that makes me really emotional and crazy, i really liked the titular window to the sky and where it ended up ^_^

secrets in indigo by sinnatious / mature / gen it's been a while since i read this one but i remember it fondly. i feel like there's potential for some sort of gif...? animated hue shift... idk... anyways, my greyscale-addicted ass is not coloring all that often but i think it's evident that i'm not a purple-eyed kaito truther, and i find it so funny that it's so pervasive (/gen). i really enjoyed the way sinnatious took that idea and came up with a whole story around and to explain it : )

the courtship ritual of japonicus kiddo by angelicsentinel / explicit / kaishin i feel like you cant go wrong with... comedy of errors (? blanking hard on the term but i think this is right) and the doves are super cute : ) and of course the outfit makes an impression. as was intended. i think it would be fun to see it drawn... (guy who is impatient with details so always puts it off but. one day.)

As it stands... uh, I made a bunch of those felt dolls... so giveaway time!
