Vlad was born in 1960 in Rostov-on-Don (a city in southern Russia), specifically on August 6th, the last month of summer in Russia.
Vlad's parents were very young when they had him; Dobrynya was 19 and Ludmila was 18.
Ludmila saw the child as an obstacle and a mistake in fulfilling her dreams and goals.
His father, Dobrynya, worked as an agricultural engineer, and his mother, Ludmila, was a math teacher.
Since Vlad's father was a university-educated professional working in the Soviet Union, he was part of a mandatory assignment system (raspredeleniye), where agricultural engineers, veterinarians, and scientists were tasked with modernizing collective farms (kolkhozes) or state farms (sovkhozes).
Vlad inherited his father's eye color and his mother's hair color, although his expressions of disappointment or anger somewhat resemble hers.
His father gave him his first pair of shoes. He started wearing skates at age 7, and that sparked a love for ice skating. Perhaps he secretly dreamed of becoming a professional skater, but at the time, that was considered effeminate.
Dobrynya was the only one who cared for him and gave him the love he needed at such a young age, in his own way, like a man of that era. He wasn't very physical, but he always made sure Vlad was happy and that his mother didn't mistreat him.
Vlad loved it when his father would lift him onto his shoulders and they would play together whenever Dobrynya was free.
They had a small barn with a total of 10 sheep, whose wool they sold.
Since Dobrynya didn't want any more trouble than he already had with his wife, he acted passively in the face of her insults, although they argued fiercely more than once, and Vlad had to witness all the chaos.
When Vlad turned 11, his parents separated and shared custody.
Vlad's life was divided between a week in the city and a week on the farm.
Ludmila moved to the city to pursue her dreams and goals.
Her father remained single, and her mother found a new partner who was a soldier in the USSR.
Vlad loved to draw and doodle things he saw on TV, in the world, or in his mind.Vlad didn't see his mother's new partner as a father figure, and Vlad was somewhat rebellious towards him.
He wanted to show his mother love, but she always rejected him and even threw one of his drawings into the fire, which destroyed his desire to continue drawing.
Vlad's mother demanded perfection from him and told him not to embarrass her, and she made sure he knew it.
The damage was more verbal and psychological than physical.
He loved helping his father in the fields.
He still has his favorite stuffed animal from the day his mother left it outside in the snow because he was insisting they play together.
Vlad's paternal grandparents were bakers, which is why Vlad knows so much about cooking. Furthermore, his grandfather had friends who were cooks.
He has mommy issues due to his mother's psychological abuse.Vlad suffers from disorganized attachment due to his mother's treatment of him.
She offered him coldness, criticism, and rejection. This is characterized by an insecure attachment bond where the person sees their caregiver as both a source of comfort and danger, resulting in ambivalence, fear of intimacy, and contradictory behavior patterns.
Vlad felt trapped because his instinct compelled him to seek refuge in the very person who simultaneously terrified him.
Vlad also developed an anxious attachment to his mother.
He desperately needed her approval, and when he didn't receive it, he felt empty and worthless. He constantly sought ways to prove his worth, to be "enough" for her.
He loved going out in the snow and playing with his friends.
He also loved making homemade jam and picking wild blackberries.
Sometime between the ages of 18 and 19, he went to Amity Park in search of a better life far from the oppression of the USSR.
His father sent him money.
During his time in Amity Park, Vlad frequently wrote to his parents.
He never told them about the portal accident and what it became.
After the accident, the letters became less frequent, and there were long periods when he didn't write or reply at all.
