Me thinking this was just gonna be an embroidery video: đđđ
Itâs not that Loki lacks morality; he just isnât obnoxious about it. Thatâs why so many audience members manage to miss it. Theyâre used to heroes⢠who define themselves according to their moral code. Loki is a moral person, but he doesnât define himself by being one. He doesnât advertise himself as a hero. When he does the right thing, it isnât for self-glorification or because some key part of his identity is bound up in being A Good Personâ˘, and heâs under no illusions (lol) that heâll ever be thanked or celebrated for it.
#these things are not consistent with lokiâs prior characterization #the only exception is in avengers assemble when loki is INTENTIONALLY making a spectacle of himself #taika and sadly many fans as well #looked at lokiâs grandstanding in a1 and decided thatâs who loki really is #despite the fact that heâs very obviously playing a role in order to achieve a certain end#they hear tony stark label loki a full tilt diva #and they internalise it as an objective fact about lokiâs core persĂłna #instead of understanding that lokiâs plan involved targeting each avenger where they live #in tonyâs case quite literally lol
Itâs also worth mentioning that Loki starts off already morally âgoodâ and better than Thor in Thor 1 and people tend to write it off because later in the movie when he is very clearly unstable and conflicted and having a breakdown he attempts genocide (which, within the context of Asgard, is fine, even if earth morals say no)⌠which some people believe is solidifying him as bad when he is next shown attempting to âtake over earthâ despite on-screen and heavily implied past torture where he isâŚÂ still never shown as bloodthirsty anyway??Â
Just because Lokiâs moral code went sideways during a breakdown and arguably in Avengers 1 after torture (he didnât really go out of his way to kill humans even after that⌠or while the mind stone was influencing him) relative to Asgard Loki is literally The Good Peron⢠because, unlike everyone else, he doesnât enjoy killing, actively avoids it, and, as cowardly as it could be seen, he tries to avoid bloodshed, even of âlesserâ races. The fact that his morality reverts to normal and it takes multiple movies for people to decide heâs âredeemedâ himself is, quite frankly, hilarious.

Hollywood tries to convince me that they donât have a massive paedophile problem then do things like this:
This is the kinda stuff that EVERYONE should be infuriated by. The kinda stuff that should be trending. Itâs so fucked up.
The movieâs worse than I originally thought and I cringe at the thought of how many paedophiles will watch this shit and jerk off to it. Itâs so fucked up. Seriously considering cancelling my Netflix subscription over this. I donât want any part of this bullshit.

oh this is super cute
Public Domain Day was yesterday, but you were probably hungover, so hereâs how to download the tens of thousands of books that became legal to download for free in 2019.
Starting at midnight on January 1, tens of thousands of books (as well as movies, songs, and cartoons) entered the public domain, meaning that people can download, share, or repurpose these works for free and without retribution under US copyright law.
Per the Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extension Act of 1998, âcorporateâ creations (like Mickey Mouse) can be restricted under copyright law for 120 years. But per an amendment to the act, works published between 1923 and 1977 can enter the public domain 95 years after their creation. This means that this is the first year since 1998 that a large number of works have entered the public domain.
Basically, 2019 marks the first time a huge quantity of books published in 1923 â including works by Virginia Woolf, Agatha Christie, and Robert Frost â have become legally downloadable since digital books became a thing. Itâs a big deal â the Internet Archive had a party in San Francisco to celebrate. Next year, works from 1924 will enter the public domain, and so-on.
So, how do you actually download these books?
It largely depends on what site you go to, and if you canât find a book on one site, you can probably find it on another. For instance, ReadPrint.com, as well as The Literature Network (mostly major authors), and Librivox (audio books), Authorama (all in the public domain), and over a dozen other sites all have vast selections of free ebooks.
Thereâs also a handful of archiving projects that are doing extensive work to digitize books, journals, music, and other forms of media. A blog post from Duke Universityâs Center for the Study of the Public Domain listed some of the most recognizable works published in 1923, as well as links to download these books on digital archiving projects Internet Archive, HathiTrust, and the Gutenberg Project. The books include:
Edgar Rice Burroughs, Tarzan and the Golden Lion
Agatha Christie, The Murder on the Links
Winston S. Churchill, The World Crisis
Robert Frost, New Hampshire
Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet
Aldous Huxley, Antic Hay
D.H. Lawrence, Kangaroo
Bertrand and Dora Russell, The Prospects of Industrial Civilization
Carl Sandburg, Rootabaga Pigeons
Edith Wharton, A Son at the Front
P.G. Wodehouse, The Inimitable Jeeves and Leave it to Psmith
Virginia Woolf, Jacobâs Room
E.E. Cummings, Tulips and Chimneys
In total HathiTrust, a massive digital archiving project, has also uploaded more than 53,000 works published in 1923 that just entered the public domain. Over 17,650 of them are books written in English. Similarly, Internet Archive has already uploaded over 15,000 works written in English that year.
Project Gutenberg, which has over 58,000 free downloadable books, has digitized five works that entered the public domain in the new year: The Meredith Mystery by Natalie Sumner Lincoln, The Golden Boys Rescued by Radio L. P. Wyman, White Lightning Edwin by Herbert Lewis, The Garden of God by H. De Vere Stacpoole, and The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. Iâm going to be perfectly honest: I recognize exactly zero of those books. But like most if not all digital archives, Project Gutenberg had some books from 1923 available for download before January 1, 2019 (like Jacobâs Room by Virginia Woolf.)
If youâre interested in academic papers, Reddit user nemobis also uploaded over 1.5 million PDF files of works published in academic journals before 1923. Your best bet for actually finding something you want to read in there is to know which academic paper youâre looking for beforehand and check the paperâs DOI number. Then, search for the DOI in one of nemobisâs lists of works â one list includes works published until 1909, the other includes works published until 1923.
Itâs worth noting that projects like Internet Archive and Project Gutenberg rely on volunteer efforts, so thereâs going to be disparities in the number of books available for download depending on where you go. But over the next several days and weeks, itâs safe to expect many more books will become available legally and for free across the web.
Sharing this for all the students, researcher and book lovers!
Yes, I know this is late. I donât care. Public domain books are still worth celebrating, even half a year later.

Well, I guess not agreeing with you about excluding people with different opinions is a reason to âcancelâ me. Letâs go over facts, all right?
1. You posted about not wanting racists to see your blog.
2. I asked if itâs a good course of action since itâs better to unradicalize people than to let them slip into shadows where they can grow in number. You have the right to block anyone but if they just follow you and donât interact with you it is impossible and I guess getâs your panties twisted?
3. You replied with basically âI donât wanthem to see my content because they are racist/homophobist etc.â. Because you donât like them.
4. I was a bit harsh and commented you are fanatic, you replied I can unfollow you, I replied that itâs maybe too strong a word but what do you call someone that not only doesnât want to talk -humans run on talking- you refuse to let anyone with not ârightâ worldview hear you speak.
5. You blocked me. I made another account, admited dogmatic would be better word for you, said your writing is amazing and that I wonât contact you again. Again I was blocked.
I of course donât think Iâm in wrong and if you ignored me at any point I would drop it but I guess you are much too far in the intersectionality cult/religion for anyone to talk to you. And with the latest news (someone got killed for saying âAll lives matterâ) I donât think I want to.
Edit: Oh yeah, forgot to add since I don't care about this... You seem more emotional than me and it looks like you are going to be mad
"BLM Supporter Shoots Woman For Saying 'All Lives Matter' And News Tries To Cover It Up"
Holy shit, Fanatics on the streets, US is in the middle of the civil war.
Fanfiction, specifically AU fanfiction which focuses on retelling the same story in a different setting, under different constraints, or with a twist, is actually a cultural successor to the ancient bardic tradition of taking long-loved and long-told stories and retelling them with a personal flourish. Through the practice of adding details to unexplored scenes, bringing a specific character to the forefront and constructing sequels, the content-creating fandom that is keeping the âepicsâ alive through transformative works is reflective and hereditary to the human need to preserve the stories which are dear to us and connect with them on a personal level. In this essay I will
âI think the experience gap between a 19 year old and a 35 year old is too large to result in a healthy romantic relationship without a power imbalance,â I say.
I pause.
âBut of course Iâd date a 3,000 year old shapeshifting dragon demi-god if the opportunity arose. Why do you ask?â
Large gaps in the first few years of young adulthood: eek⌠I recognize that youâre an adult and have a right to make your own decisions but please please please be cautious and think very critically about why your partner isnât dating someone with more life under their belt, donât be afraid to ask for help or advice enforcing your boundaries and remember your first obligation is to yourself
Large age gaps after several years of adult independence and self-discovery: use your best judgement, I might raise an eyebrow but Iâll trust you to know what you want and what works for you on an individual basis
Large age gaps when one partner is an ancient supernatural dragon god or some shit: đ YOLO donât get et

this gets funnier every yearÂ
The year is 2042. Your daughter is awkwardly silent as she eats her dinner. âSomething wrong sweetie?â She sighs and puts down her fork. âI was digging really deep in AO3 last nightâŚWhy didnât you finish that coffee shop au?â It happened. Your past has come back to haunt you. Nay, it never truly left.
U CANNOT OUTRUN UR CRIME
OKAY BUT WAIT. This has happened to me. Recently. Because I am old and I have things out there from previous fandoms with previous pseuds and one day my teenager begins a rant at me about people never finishing any WIPs on the pit of voles (which he does not call the pit of voles because he has No Knowledge of such a thing but yet he still reads on which I didnât think anyone did any longer) and he points out an example to me of something I WROTE AND LEFT WIPing for ages and he has NO IDEA #1 that his mom wrote this and #2 How much it still haunts me to this day that it will. sit. there. for. eternity. because I am too lazy to pull it down.
oh my god
#why didnât you finish cleaning your room?#IDK MOM WHY DIDNâT YOU FINISH THE RON/DRACO MERMAID AU?Â
( @mrv3000 )
Every year, this becomes both more funny, and more painful, and for both of those reasons, it should never be lost or forgotten.
Why did the word âfandomâ come to be in common usage? It sounds dumb and the word âfan baseâ already existed. Was it seriously just that nerds on the internet thought âfan baseâ wasnât cute enough or something? When did we even start using the word âfandom?â
1903?
