I’ve noticed a thing recently (well, I’m sure people have been doing it for a while, but it only occurred to me recently) wherein people will deny the antisemitism of the committing a crime against Jews in the diaspora as a way of expressing anger at Israel, then when they’re called on it they’ll go “hey, I never said it wasn’t a crime, I just said it wasn’t *antisemitic*” and bitch, you’re not as cute as you think you are.

It's worth noting that this particular gambit has been attempted by the Democratic nominee for the US House race in Colorado 1, Melat Kiros, who refuses to use the word antisemitism in connection with last year's firebombing attack on a group of Jews at a Jewish event in Boulder, which is in the district she will almost certainly be elected to represent.

there’s a post making the rounds along the lines of ‘if people couldn’t engage with works the way they want to (ex. listening to audiobooks instead of reading), then they wouldn’t go over to what you think is the superior way of engaging with them, they simply wouldn’t experience them at all.” anyway, i’d like to posit a similar theory in regards to the creation of fanworks: if someone was prevented in some way from creating fanworks about what they want in a particular fandom, they’re not going to change to create the kind you want instead. they’re just not going to make anything at all.

ex: if you’re annoyed that the project hail mary and/or iron lung tags are full of bloodymary yaoi art, then that’s fine, but recognize that if these people weren’t making this art, then they wouldn’t be making art for your ship/nonship that you prefer. they simply wouldn’t make any art at all. and maybe you’d prefer that, but frankly, I don’t think “I wish people would make less art” is ever a good outcome.

this just in: being an asshole about people making a thing they love somehow does not result in them wanting to give the thing you love a chance.

They dumped plastic skeletons in environmentally protected areas, against the literal contracts they had to sign to get the permits to film in environmentally protected areas. Like they not only did a bad ecological thing that freaked out some divers, they literally broke environmental protection laws and their contract with the Italian government
