I had two of my close friends attempt suicide, completely unrelated, less than 48 hours apart. After trying to hold it together for the first three classes of my day I finally broke down over lunch and ended up sobbing to my french teacher in her classroom.

A good 15 minutes before the fourth period bell would ring I could hear a couple people from her next class of freshman standing outside the door complaining about being unable to put their binder away because some “depressed bitch is crying” and a couple people giggling about “could you stop crying so I can put my shit in the class and get on with my life”. I didn’t show it then but I was and still am completely embarrassed and it did nothing to help lessen my anxiety about today.

Moral of my story is

a) I wanted to get that off my chest, and

b) You never know what others are going through, so take a deep breath, and realize it’s okay to put your life on pause because you need to cherish the moments when everything is so good the only thing you have to complain about is wanting to be free of your backpack for five minutes
