i think in a lot of ways wincest can be conceptualized as two people in an unethical poly relationship who are always always arguing about their third but their third is almost never a person. sometimes the third is "hunting" sometimes the third is "childhood" and sometimes the third is "dad/dad's ghost." like. ok. sorry this is so stupid. but i swear a lot of their arguments are basically "you're cheating on me with dad's ghost." like it's not even "we're arguing because we fundamentally disagree about [thing]" it's specifically You Are Cheating on Me. You're Going to Leave Me for [Thing]. you love this job more than me. you love revenge more than me. you love dad more than me, you love your ego more than me, you love the idea of dying more than me and you're going to leave me by driving off a cliff. you know
