Tintin Fanfic Questions
Calling all Tintin fic fans!
I'm working on a fic, which is to say I'm verbally abusing my WIP because it keeps digging plotholes, but nevertheless.
The main reason for this post is that while the Tintin movie is important to me in a way I can't put into words, the vast majority of my hyperfixation of the series revolves around the Karaboudjan sailors and Allan. As a result, my attempts to accurately portray the other main characters (including Tintin himself) are very rusty. Like a child trying roller skates for the first time. Embarrassing, really.
The Karaboudjan sailors and an oc are the main protagonists of my fic which very loosely follows the first act of the movie, but Tintin is a secondary protag in it and I wanna do him justice.
And so I am here to ask a few questions about your Tintin fanfic experiences! If you can plz share so I can get a larger range of answers <3
What is one thing you love in fanfics/things you want to see more of?
What is something you hate/things that will make you INSTANTLY click the back arrow?
What are some ways you feel the characters are mischaracterized?
What things do you not see enough of/things you see too much of?
What headcanons/theories do you have about character backstories?
More background under the cut
Weekend reblog✨
Wolf with the Shrouded Heart Prologue
Well, an early draft of the prologue at least lol. Haven't posted any writing here in probably a year, figured I'd remedy that with a current draft of the Wolf with the Shrouded Heart prologue. Still working through the book outline itself, and it'll probably be over a year before I ever start the fic on a site, but still. Enjoy a snippet (that is 3k words but the original was 4k)!
Wordcount: 3.1k Characters: Allan Thompson, Shadow Hyder, Thomas Cooper Rating: 18+ (Language) CW: Worsening mental illness (Anxiety, depression), manipulation, weaponized institutionalization (mentioned)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Karaboudjan.
Rust-bucket that it was, Shadow nevertheless spent countless hours imagining what it’d be like to sail on her. She’d had true-blue sea-time before, a position accepted in part due to her years-long hyperfixation, but that was a research vessel. A boat that smelled of fish—recently dead, not recently dead, and so long dead they’d turned into a gruesome slushie— and could hold fifteen people max, with half the lot sleeping in a single bunk-room of coffin slots that was once an old tanker reserve. A boat outfitted to reach the edge of the continental shelf but no further, cruise for ten days but no longer. A boat that was a boat, not a ship.
Not the ship.
And it was the ship she wanted; the rust, the grit, the grime, the cast of colorful yet morally grey characters that lurked in the twisting corridors, swearing like their lives depended on it.
But now, faced with the prospect of casting off and leaving everything she knew behind… anxiety sunk its teeth into her like a stubborn, feral dog and wouldn’t let go no matter how hard she punched it in the nose.
What business did she have signing onto a crew full of smugglers? It was one thing to imagine it from the comfort of your house three alternate universes over, but when you actually had the option staring you down in the face…

i literally love saying "ON IT BOSS!!!!!" whenever someone asks me to do something like i'm some sort of henchman. it doesn't matter if they're my boss or not for real even because in the moment they are, and whatever they requested of me i'm on it
unfortunately i have free will so im about to make art that is going to appeal to basically 4 people. let us hope those 4 people follow me.

Still trying to settle on a redesign I like, this is close! The movie base, Jack's cheeks, Vitors chin/head, Craig's eyes (and voice), and Jon's jaw and nose. Slowly getting better at the old man lines.
Gave him the thousand-yard stare courtesy of the trenches of my WWI analogue ✨
Time to rewatch the Tintin movie!
Or as I like to call it the source of my questionable taste in men
Me slowing to .25x and looking at the portholes:
Heh, that looks like black mold! 😂
I mean I know it’s damp but
*squints*
Oh wait yeah no that’s definitely black mold 😬

Shadow, shorts and a t shirt, laughing: How could anyone hate the rain?
Allan, fully trench-coated up and having spent way too much time near Shadow's Gen Z ass: On gods they tryin to drown me in this hoe. I cannot see!
"Why do you always call Movie!Tom a puppy?"
Mans spends the movie looking like this in 90% of scenes, what ELSE am I supposed to refer to him as?
