Pike gets the crown for Narratively Excellent Bad Choices in the finale but I do also want to give a shoutout to Keyleth for immediately bending the knee to save Vax when that's absolutely not what he wants & also kicks off the rest of Vox Machina following suit. She's spent this whole season so desperate to save him, using experimental magic and even interfering during combat, and it's absolutely the cherry on top that in the crux moment, with everything at stake, she cannot waver. She was not and is not ready to let him go, even for a greater good, and it's what makes his choice and his death so poignant. She did everything, and still lost him.

Rewatching Season 1 of TLOVM after watching Season 4 (specifically the last two episodes), hits differently knowing what happens.

nobody talks about how exhausting it is to live in that space between "things will get better" and "i can't handle this anymore." it's like your emotions are constantly swinging. leaving you both hopeful and defeated in the same day.

sometimes i feel stupid for enjoying cringefest 2010s ya series and then i read series that are popular today and they seriously aren’t much better? like i think in hindsight a lot of the humour and tropes common in ya lit nowadays will be considered extremely cringe and a product of their time. the real solution is being okay with releasing one’s inner teenager who just enjoys books based on what they think is cool
