It's very clear that Qifrey absolutely dislikes Easthies, and the feeling is obviously mutual, but why(other than the fact that Easthies dared to threaten Qifrey's daughters and Easthies's beef with Coco)? Since they are both apprentices of one of the Three Wise Ones, they must have met quite a few times. We all know how Kidfrey was growing up, but I feel like it's more than just a childhood dislike. There are at least two theories I can think of for the animosity between Qifrey and Easthies. Warning: Hint/referces to stuff from the Manga past where the anime ends. 1) Qifrey is Beldaruit's apprentice (son). I think that there have to have been a few times that Beldaruit used his authority as one of the Wise to protect Qifrey, especially when it came to Coco becoming Qifrey's apprentice. We see how quickly word travels through the witches' community in EP2/Chapter 2. The moment Easthies heard that an outsider had been allowed to keep their memory AND become an apprentice, he was pissed off, even more so when the knights are told not to interfere. 2) WARNING: SPOILERS PAST WHERE THE ANIME ENDS!!: The possibility of Qifrey being an outsider and being allowed to keep his memory. Yes, they were both kids when Beldaruit took Qifrey under his wing, but also Easthies is Vianna's apprentice. Meaning he was likely surrounded by the Knights Moralis, and I have no doubt that the Knights of that time said something about Beldaruit's new apprentices, adding to the already gossiping words of the Great Hall. Especially because we know absolutely nothing about Qifrey's past before he was found in the coffin. We don't know if Qifrey was a witch or an outsider before the Brimmed Cap experimented on him. Unless we're told later in the story, we're in the dark as much as Qifrey is. The main point in both is that, in some sense, The Rule of the Pack is altered or bent in a way to favor Qifrey and Easthies; growing up surrounded by the people whose main job and role in Witch society is to uphold that rule, he loathes it. SPOILER: In chapters 79 and 80, we see how far Easthies is willing to go to ensure that every rule and aspect of the Pact is upheld, attacking witches and doctors, even attacking Vianna, HIS MASTER AND ONE OF THE THREE WISE ONES!!, regardless of whether it helps people. These are just my fan theories I've come up with while reading/watching Witch Hat Atelier and working on my fanfic for them. I could be completely wrong, and there's a whole other reason the two of them don't get along. What do you guys think the reason Qifrey and Easthies dislike each other is?
