A Colorist Interview With Brad Simpson Brad Simpson is a brilliant colorist who has been making his mark in comics for the last 30 yea
I am so grateful to Brad Simpson for agreeing to talk with me about being a colorist and a freelancer. There was something about the effortless way he peeled back the myth behind working in the comic book industry throughout the conversation.
More importantly he gave honest insights into what it means to be a freelancer. Brad’s colors have brightened and enriched comics like Bloodborne, The Witcher, Stray Dogs, Coffin Bound, Black Stars Above, and so many more.
Starting with his early days as a painter and his transition into comics, Brad shares what he learned, a few things that surprised him about the industry, and illuminates what you can count on and some things that are harder to predict.
If you were thinking about becoming a comic colorist or a freelancer or are curious about what both pursuits are like, I believe you'll enjoy the wisdom that he imparts.
