I will reblog gifsets, fics, prompts, resources, and references. You will see lots of blood here.
I support whump as kink. However, this is not a kink blog.
This isn't run as a fandom-specific blog, but there will be fandom-related things here.
I prefer male whump. I will, however, use they/them when prompt posting, unless special circumstances (like blorbos) are in play.
This is not a discourse blog. I run this for fun. Do not ask me about discourse. If you want a page free of news, you won't see any here. (If on the off chance they do become relevant, it will be under a tag called #vent. Please block this tag if needed!)
I am anti-censorship. I am of the opinion that all fiction deserves to exist. This includes DDNE, RPF, darkfic, et cetera. If you can't be normal about this, I encourage you to block me.
My Ao3 is a catchall for anything, and you may find past RPF there. However, any and all RPF will be moved to a second Tumblr/Ao3 account, so it will not show up here.
That's it for now, I think! Thanks for visiting! Stay awhile, if you fancy. And drink some water while you're at it!

Hi! I was hoping you could give some advice to me, but of course if this is not a relevant enough ask for this blog specifically feel free to ignore me! So I was/ am really excited to write something for the event, but I keep running into the same issue that I run into every single time that i try writing whump. Whenever I get to describing the specific parts that would usually be among my favorites to read about (the whump itself) I freeze up and can't continue and in the past I've had so many unfinished works because of this and it makes me really sad because the parts that trip me up are specifically the ones that i love reading about from other people. Do you have any advice for this?
Hey Anon! I'm sorry to hear you're struggling. And thank you for reaching out! I'm happy to help, if I can!
There's a lot of reasons for writer's block: perfectionism, self-doubt, lack of inspiration, et cetera. Personally, I falter when I don't feel confident in portraying what I want, or when I worry it'll be the same as every other version of the trope. You're not alone in this, dear anon.
The main advice I want to give is to go for it. Do everything you can to submerge yourself in it all. Hit the freeze point and keep going. I know this is hard. The important part is that you can get through it, and the more you do, the easier it will get. But just telling you to get started is not very helpful. So! Here we go, long post ahead:
Exercises for Getting Started:
Come up with arbitrary limits. For example: only write 50 words. Or 100. The next sentence has to start with the word "no". The next paragraph needs to say the same phrase twice, but it has to mean different things each time. If you listen to music, you can't write when the chorus of the song is playing. If you're freezing because of choice paralysis, it might help to slam down some guardrails--you can disregard them all later, once you've gotten started.
Narrow down the starting point. It helps to start with a question. However, thinking "How do I do this?" when staring at a blank page is universally torturous. "How" is abstract, with a thousand answers. Try replacing it with a more concrete question. For example:
Where do I want my character to be standing? What position are they in? Now, why do they change that position? Let's say my scene starts with a character standing. Now I have a starting point, and I can find a reason to get them on the floor instead. This generates movement. Movement is good.
What is the first sense I can emphasize in the scene? Blood in the mouth, cold air on the skin, ringing in their ears, blinding white light, the smell of smoke, et cetera. Starting point--now, what is the character's reaction? Now you have movement.
How does your character portray the emotion they're feeling? Do they have some hidden twitch in their hands if they're in pain? When they're angry, do they blow up or shut down? Start from the emotion, then draw a line to action. Movement!
Stop thinking when you write. This one is tricky, but the more logical you frame the work, the harder it is to keep going. Questions like "where does her hand go?" or "should they shut the door or leave it open?" are gateways to keep going, not points to agonize over. Pick one and move on. Later, you can change it, but try to make your choices as quickly as possible.
Write three words at a time. From your ask, it seems like you get to the point you want to write, and then freeze. In that case, write three words, and put it down. It's hard to make a full sentence in three words, so when you pick it up again five minutes later, you already have a starting point. Three more words.
End in the middle of a sentence. Like above, except every time you decide you're done writing, end as close to the end of a sentence as you feel comfortable ending without making it a full sentence. It's a neat little diving board for the next time you open the draft.
Remember: you don't have to follow rules if they aren't helping. You don't have to start at the beginning; you can start in the middle of a conversation. You don't have to write the moment a character gets hurt; you can start with the aftermath and chaos. If you can locate the pressure points that make you freeze (for me, beginnings and big reveals), you can come up with strategies to override the pressure.
On my main blog, I have post for writing the scenes you don't want to write, which has some applicable advice as well. I'll link it here for you, anon.
As a farewell, I want to tell you this: you can do it. I believe in you. One foot in front of the other, one word at a time. I can't wait to see what you create!
I wish there was a website where you could input a character's description (height, weight, sex, medical conditions, etc.) And a situation (car crash, falls, stabbing, etc.) And it would calculate for you from most to least likely the injuries that character would receive, potential complications, and how long it would take recover. This would make writing injuries SO MICH EASIER if I wasn't guessing at everything
This tool would be so fun and I would definitely use it.
But ALSO! The best thing about writing injuries is that there is so much variation.
I spent a few years as an EMT, and I saw people walk away from vehicle rollovers with nary a scratch... and also, I saw people break their knees because they sat down. I've seen a guy get lifelong impairments out of falling off something twelve feet high, but I know someone who survived being stabbed over a dozen times with no lasting (physical) injuries. There's range.
In nearly any given situation*, a realistic level of injury is anywhere from "Dies within five minutes" to "Dies 73 years later surrounded by grandchildren and great-grandchildren, having zero long-lasting repercussions from that incident."
*Not every situation, mind you; papercuts are generally exempt
If you don't mind a ramble (because I haven't done a fun character injury ramble in a while so I shall use this as an excuse)...
The key to writing realistic injuries is to start with what you want to happen. It's your character and your scenario, so start with what you want to happen for Plot Reasons.
Example:
You know your character gets in a car crash with a wall, and you want them laid up for a week, but able to move around with minimal pain soon after. Cool. Now that you have your desired outcome, you can run through the scenario. You won't want your character ejected or to have a major head impact with the windshield, so they were wearing their seatbelt. You want them to still be able to walk, so the dashboard probably didn't crumple in on them. That means they were either in a car with good safety ratings, or they weren't going super fast, or a combination thereof. But you do want them a little bit injured, enough so they don't want to go on that hiking trip for another week, so make sure they were going fast enough to get some good ol' whiplash.
Another example:
You want your character to make a dramatic exit out the window, and you want them to be limping a little for dramatic effect as they head off into the forest surrounding the castle. Nice, we love a good dramatic window exit. But you want to make sure the character won't be out of commission for the battle in a fortnight's time. This could totally be a first-floor window, or even a second-floor one. But what if it really needs to be the fourth floor, for pre-existing scenario reasons? Well, maybe there's a balcony halfway down. Or maybe there's a nice slanted roof underneath that broke their fall. Or maybe the castle is built into a cliff so the windows on that side of the castle are only ten feet up. Or maybe they clung onto ivy outside, which ripped out of the wall a bit but was enough to slow them down. There's all sorts of ways you can play this off!
Rather than trying to make a scenario and then fitting the injury into it, come up with the injury (or at least, level of injury) and plan out the details of your scenario around it.
The only caution is to make sure to build scenarios realisticallyâlike, I could totally see a character being able to keep going after being stabbed because it was a shallow wound. But if they get a shallow stab wound... and they only get âšgrazedâš by a bullet... and they happen to survive a terrible car accident because they were in the best possible seat... AND they were pushed out of an airplane but their BFF managed to skydive right out after them and caught them... that's getting to be a little much. XD Any of those is realistic except maybe the last; IDK, I know injuries, not skydiving, but too many near-misses in a single story starts to feel like plot armor.
But yeah. The range of possible injuries from any given scenario is immense. But if you figure out how much you want to injure the character (or how quickly you want to kill them, you evil author you), you can then build out the scenario so it makes sense, and research gets a little easier too because it narrows down what you're looking for.
heart attacks without a heart, the bad taste of something unnatural in your mouth, and a body whose blood no longer flows but still can't keep its hands from shaking
(otherwise entitled all the background occtis angst that isn't already part of another gifset, bc alex is always a treat for stuff like this!)

FAQ and text version under the cut!
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Where can I find the prompts list?
A: @whumperless-whump-event on Tumblr.
Q: How are the prompts divided?
A: Each day has a "title" or a vague theme, followed by two tropes and one dialogue prompt.
Q: Can I use the title as a prompt?
A: Absolutely.
Q: Do I have to use all of the prompts?
A: Not at all.
Q: Can I use all the prompts?
A: Absolutely.
Q: If I'm writing a chronological story, can I swap days to fit the timeline?
A: Yes, just make sure you tag your days and prompts appropriately. If you're writing for day 6, but you post it on day 12, tag day 6, not day 12.
Q: Can I have early or late entries?
A: Yes. This is a very laid back event, and meant mainly to inspire lots of whumperless whump. It's not a strict writing challenge.
Q: Is there an Ao3 collection?
A: Yes! This year's collection is linked here. The parent collection also includes 2024 and 2025--make sure you select 2026.
Q: Can I write [insert anything here]?
A: Yes. However, this blog will not reblog certain topics (ex. nsfw or suicide), so please tag your works appropriately, so anyone can filter out anything they don't want to see.
Q: Can I use AI?
A: No.
Q: Can a whumper be included in the prompt fill?
A: The short answer is no. The long answer is that you cannot have the role of whumper in your prompt fill (aka: no whumper-on-whumpee); however, if the character you want to be a whumpee or a caretaker happens to be a whumper, then as long as they are not fulfilling the role of whumper, it's fine. Also, if there is a whumper, it must be totally impersonal and faceless. Here are some examples for clarification:
A character's drink is spiked at a party.
OKAY: The whumper who spiked the drink is never mentioned and is completely faceless, and the story is directly about whumpee recovering.
NOT WHUMPERLESS: The whumper who spiked the drink kidnaps the whumpee.
A character is left alone in a storm.
OKAY: The character is stranded or lost.
NOT WHUMPERLESS: Whumper tied them to a post and left them in the storm.
A character is mugged on the street.
OKAY: The whumper is a stranger, faceless, and the focus is on Whumpee.
NOT WHUMPERLESS: The whumper is a stalker and there to kidnap Whumpee.
All in all, if your goal is to fulfill the event, then try to avoid a whumper. If you're using the prompts elsewhere, then ignore this, but in the spirit of the event, no whumper roles please.
Q: How do I tag my posts?
A: Tag with #whumperless whump event, #wwevent 2026 and #wwevent day [x](Don't just tag wwe, that's wresting.) Make sure to tag the fill type (art, fic, music, etc) with #fic, #art, #et cetera. Then, tag triggers and content warnings. Please put these first in the tag order! It just makes it easier to reblog.
Q: How do I get reblogged?
A: Mention this blog in your post! It's the easiest way for me to find you. Otherwise, I won't reblog it. (This also means if you do not want your post reblogged to the event, just don't mention the blog, and it'll stay private.)
Q: I disagree with something/have an issue with a prompt/want to address a problem. How should I do it?
A: Send me an ask and we can fix it. I am more than willing to work through any problems--I am human, and not without fault.
I think that's about it. That's a lot, so if you've got any other questions that aren't on the list, feel free to shoot me an ask. I'm happy to help!

love the prompts this year, theyâre great! however, i do have a question- one of the alternate prompts says âanimal attack.â would that not count as a whumper? or do animals not count as one?
Interesting. In my head, no, an animal doesn't count as whumper. They're part of a situation. A startled, wounded, or territorial animal doesn't fill the same role as a violent or malicious person. I haven't considered this, though, so just in case:

âI donât know; biting me seems pretty damn defiant.â
âYou grabbed its muzzle. What did you expect?â Zâdar sighed, though an undercurrent of anger colored the medicâs words. âHow would you like it if I grabbed your face?â
âWe fucking saved it from that hellhole. The least it could do is - is be cooperative.â Maniah winced as Zâdar cut the stitches and began to smooth bandages around her arm.
âIt doesnât know who we are, why we took it, or what to expect. We arenât exactly nonthreatening.â Zâdarâs clawed fingers worked deftly, layering a second bandage.
ââŠwhat the hell do you suggest we do? Caldea sedated the little bugger but that barely kept it down long enough to get me out of that containment unit with my arm still attached.â Maniah rose from the medical table, her tendrils curling in pain. âItâs hurt and needs help. What are we supposed to do if it wonât let us help? Just watch it die from its wounds?â
ââŠno. I want to try something.â
âWith a human? Be my guest.â
â
Esra couldnât keep this up. She had lost too much blood and she was too cold and tired and hungry to keep jumping at every creature that came up to the glass. Most of them just watched her. Like an animal in a cage.
(She knew she was, certainly to these creatures, but that didnât make the dehumanizing shame of it all any easier to swallow.)
The last thing that came in here left bleeding - at least, she assumed the acidic blue lymph left behind by her bites was its equivalent of blood. She had hoped that would keep the others away. But it hadnât. Esra raised her head, trembling in spite of the urge to seem strong as she bared her teeth.
The other creatures seemed much more dangerous, hulking and armored and clawed. Part of her almost regretted going after the translucent, cephalopod-like creature that had wrapped her up in its jelly-soft arms. It was outside of her unit now, the arm she had bitten compressed in soft white bandages.
(Her previous captors never bothered to bandage their wounded prizes. Her own body bore the marks of that careless greed.)
But the tentacled creature didnât reenter her containment unit, apparently watching as a new creature slipped through the clear, chambered airlocks. Esraâs eyes grew wide with terror at the sight.
It was massive, as long as a limousine and standing well over a story high. The monster barely had any clearance between its head and the ceiling of Esraâs containment unit. It seemed quadrupedal, though itâs forelimbs sported articulated, clawed digits. Its crested skull ended in a rounded but razor sharp bill, surely strong enough to tear her limb from limb.
She scrambled backwards, as best she could with her already battered body.
But it didnât chase. It didnât corner her like the last creature, didnât snag her with a barbed tendril and draw her close.
Instead, the massive beingâŠlaid down. At least, it reclined, dropping to its belly but keeping its massive skull off the ground.
Esra knew better than to assume it was safe. An animalistic snarl growled in the back of her throat. (She hadnât spoked in so long. She remembered how, but her voice was shredded from screaming. From begging.) The creature tilted its head, as though listening intently to her desperate, pained howl of defiance.
The beaked mouth of the beast clacked softly, but in the large, empty space of the containment unit it echoed menacingly. (Mockingly.) She had no escape. She doubted she could even injure this thing before it snapped her up and swallowed her whole -
It laid its head down, and rolled.
Esra was so confused and so startled she forgot to fear the massive creature. Itâs colorful scaled throat was bared to her, the intricate patterns delicately etched into thin skin. (Now was her chance. The skin was so thin she could see a blood vessel throbbing below. If she could bite deep enoughâŠ) But Esraâs limbs didnât move.
Was this some sort ofâŠsubmissive display?
The creature was still and silent, save for its slow breaths. Esra swallowed, watching its limbs for any sign of tension. But the monster was relaxed, claws twitching in the air. (Like a cat, dozing on itâs back. JustâŠless fluffy.) Her instincts, ever fickle, drew her closer to the beast.
She crawled forward, left leg dragging behind her uselessly. This close she could see the creatureâs eye, half lidded but still watching her. Gauging her reaction. (Its breaths were warm. And she was so cold - ) Esra dragged herself closer, close enough to lay a hand on the monsterâs feathered face.
The feathers beside its eye were unfathomably soft, their delicate structure nearly identical to the feathers of the birds Esra knew. That reptilian jade green eye blinked slowly, a rumbled emanating from the creatureâs still bared throat.
A rumble that, Esra realized, was words.
âThere you go, little one. Youâre alright. Youâre safe.â
Tears welled in her eyes; she couldnât believe what she was hearing. It spoke to her. It acknowledged her. It was an interaction without pain or implied threats and Esra hadnât been treated this way, with suchâŠhumanity, in so long. She collapsed against the monsterâs face, sobs weak and breaths shallow. She wanted to believe the creature. She really did, butâŠ
She was so tired.
â
âYou actually did it.â Maniah floated around the medic to stare down at the fragile, unconscious human cradled in Zâdarâs gentle hands.
âQuickly, to the infirmary. It doesnât have much time.â

"healing" magic that doesn't heal. it only supplements the patient enough to keep them alive through intervention. it just keeps the blood going where it needs to be, it keeps the lungs on a rhythmic cycle, it gives power to the organ systems, consciousness if necessary, et cetera. that way, a lethal injury becomes survivable, if only a healer is there to become their life support while the medics do their job. a deadly poison becomes curable if there's enough magic to keep the heart beating. torture can last forever with the right magic user, willing (or coerced) to keep a victim alive until they break.
