serpent-fangsâ:
Fangs wanted to ask Toni if there was more to this, if she was okay, what all the money was for originally and why she wouldnât stay with them, but he couldnât get his thoughts and questions into words. This was too much for her to do, but he knew all too well once Toni decided on something there was no stopping her. With a little sigh he reached out to pull her into a hug, his chin resting on top of her head as he said âthank youâ to her once more. As he pulled back he smiled down at her and warily put the envelopes into his backpack. The guilt settled into his stomach, but he tried to hope for the best, that he wouldnât have to sell any longer and that they would all be okay. âDoes Sweet Pea know youâre doing this?â Fangs would have no way to explain how he could afford a place or food on top of his motherâs hospital bills being caught up. âWell then weâll have a good crash pad for our movie nights again.â He tried to say with a lighter tone as he pulled his backpack back up on his shoulder.
Toni rested her head on Fangsâ shoulder as she was pulled into his arms. She held the boy just as tight as he had her, only nodding at his quiet thank you. Toni knew he was grateful, she didnât need to hear it. That was how their friendship was. They always gave everything they could to each other that it wasnât out of the scope for Toni to go beyond her means in order to help the boy. It was just their nature. âHe knows,â she nodded simply. âHeâs not too happy about the idea, but he knows better than to try and change my mind once itâs made up.â Not that that conversation was any easier than this one, but eventually she got Sweetpea to come around to the idea. âWe could have some pretty dope day marathons without anyone judging us for staying in the entire day.â
