❝ YOU know, i kind of wish i was here during the time starcourt mall was still around. i continue to hear talk about it, even when the damages happened months ago, but it seems people miss it dearly and with how uneventful the town looks right now, a mall would be nice to go right about now. ❞ a sigh escaped from her lips before shaking her head. ❝ Sorry if that sounded depressing. i just saw most of the movies in theaters, so i feel there’s not much to do already. ❞  @ser-pea-nt

Pea’s attention slowly crawled out as the girl had talked about the mall. Lately that had been something people brought up, good or bad. Most just missed something called Scoops Ahoy but others said something weird happened when that mall came around. “What else do you know about it?” Pea asked the girl drawing a blank as he seemed to ignore the topic of the theater. 

jughead did not seem to mind sweet pea’s presence too much. sure, there was a time when their relationship was somewhat hostile, but now they had more pressing matters on their hands. “it’s a work in progress.” jughead took another sip from his mug. “so you’re actually interested in this? i thought you would be somewhere else doing whatever you do.” his pen was poised on his notepad once again, then looked up at pea. “rumors… that’s a good starting point. what do you have? tell me everything you heard.” the gears were spinning inside his head. he had an extremely thoughtful expression on his face. he had a feeling this town wasn’t normal.

Sweets shrugged heavy shoulders. “Oh trust me. If this was home I could give a shit less, but it’s not. Now this whole shit is more then you and those Northsiders.” He said, even in Hawkins Pea couldn’t drop his dislike for the group of friends. It had gotten better but it still was there. A chip that the stubborn boy wasn’t going to drop. “I just want to find out how to get Toni and I back to Riverdale. I mean... it’s not even the right time. This isn’t supposed to be possible.” There was a huff and a disappointed roll of his eyes as he slumped in front of Jughead. “Not much. I haven’t been here long and I’ve been getting a place to stay before really deep diving. But I can try to get something out of my roommate, I’m sure she’d know if something weird was going on around here.”

Jughead could not help but notice someone staring at him from across the restaurant. Before, he had resorted to jotting down notes for his next book as well as occasionally sipping on a cup of joe. eventually, curiosity got the best of him, so he stood up and approached the other individual. “You know, staring at someone across the room is beyond creepy… kinda gives off serial killer vibes.” Of course, his remark was not to be taken seriously as it was a joke, according to his odd sense of humor.

“Don’t act like you don’t slip into that creepy ass stare either, Jughead.” Sweet pea rose a brow. Casual seemed the best way to approach the familiar face. Make it less of a panic that sometimes Pea found himself in beyond his line of anger. Pea leaned over, obviously not caring about personal space and rolled his eyes. “Of course Jughead would be working on his next book. “You better have something to start that on. I’ve been here a week and all that I can find out on this place is some weird shit that happened to the mall a few years ago but no one has any details except rumors.” Pea looked at Jughead as one the smartest one of his friends, not that he’d ever admit that, compared to the other Serpents though it was just a given.

😈 - manipulating with others

Things still weren’t great. Everything but this was wrong. No matter how messy and complicated things had gotten in Riverdale, she could count on Sweet Pea being there for her. Loyalty went beyond the Serpents for them. His arms tight around her was immediate relief of comfort. “You’re not alone, Pea.” Her hands slipped from around him to gently brush the hair off his face. Eyes scanning over his face with desperation and relief. He was okay. He was here and he was okay.

“Not long,” she reassured. “A couple days.” It was a guess. It sure felt like longer being all by herself, but she had to keep herself grounded. “What about you?” There had been a divide back home. She couldn’t remember the last time she saw Sweet Pea and had no way of knowing if that was right before here or if he showed up the same time she did.

“Is anyone else here?” It was a shot in the dark but it was a question she needed at ask. How many people could really stay hidden in such a small town. “You know, anyone from Riverdale.” Toni desperatley wanted to ask about Cheryl. However, she knew that wasn’t the best foot to lead with when it came to Sweets. “You’re the first familiar face I’ve seen.”

Those words sucked him off to a place of complete ease. Not being alone. It was strange; Pea came off as a boy who looked like he didn’t want to be surrounded by anyone and for the most part he was content with not talking and just looking like the scowl-clad boy in the corner. But Sweets was never alone really; he had the Serpents constantly around, he had Toni and Fangs always around the trailer. He didn’t mind being the one no one talked to but to not have people made him feel abandoned. “Is it selfish to be happy that it’s you?” He asked sighing softly as he found the warmth of her hand and eyes catching his.  

Good. A couple of days, she was alone only that long. He couldn’t hate himself over a few days. “Yeah, same here. One thing I know I’m walking out of the room listening to Jughead’s next move and then I’m standing in some janky ass junk yard in the 80′s for fuck sake.” He said shaking his head. The taller boy pulled away and looked at the booth where they are sitting. They had enough eyes on them from their epic reunion he didn’t want anyone over hear his story of time travel and have anyone getting suspicious of them. 

 His hand went to intertwine with hers and he walked to slide into the booth, now able to be out of the way and talk in private. “Yeah... I saw that Ethel girl... and Lodge. They don’t know what the hell id going on either so they aren’t the greatest help. Muggs got herself a job though, seems she is doing good at sticking under the radar. I been trying to do the same thing until I can get a lead on whatever happened. As much as I hate Riverdale... I don’t know shit about the 80′s unless it’s the horror movies.”

🍛 - cooking :

  Does it come out of the freezer and have directions on what button to press? Sweet pea isn’t a T E R R I B L E cook. But you better not expect anything that doesn’t solely just have the means to survive off. He has luckily grown up with Pop’s diner and whatever Toni would whip up for the boys when she could.  

😏 - lying

  Amazing. He has mastered the poker face and unless you are close enough to notice his one sign that gives him away; the slight shift he gets or the slight tilt in his head then he can pretty much get away with a lie or two. After all he’s a Serpent who has had to get his way out of trouble with the stiff Riverdale police from time to time.

  You might want to look for someone else. He isn’t nearly as hostile toward children but he had no filter and is a rather bad influence. He also hasn’t been able to click well with children, he has no experience with them and doesn’t know what to do when they get upset or if something is wrong.

          teenage  partying  happened  a  lot  in  new  york  city,  but  he  barely  partook  in  such  activities.   he  must've  only  gone  a  couple  times  with  el,  they  weren’t  his  scene.   still  aren’t,  but  somehow  he  finds  himself  in  a  party,  this  time  in  hawkins,  from  all  places.   he  will  sit  on  the  edge  of  the  pool,  legs  submerging  in  water  up  to  his  knees.     ❛  ———  so,  you  enjoyin'  summer?  ❜     it  only  sounds  mildly  awkward  &  forced.   he  isn’t  one  for  small  talks,  but  silence  isn’t  an  option  either.

Once you been to one you pretty much have been to them all. The only thing that seemed different was the music. And as Pea avoided that part of the party he had been sucking down as much cheap beer as he tried to just blend in. Pea figured if he didn’t know how ling he’d be here he might as well try and fit in.   That’s when the questions from the lone boy made him laugh with a stern face. “Enjoying... sure. I guess you can put it that way.” He sighed. “Parties... shopping... and fun right?” All things he wished he could just be doing at home; in Riverdale. “What about you? Sitting out here alone doesn’t look like much fun.” Pea didn’t know anyone, he at least had an excuse.

it was 1986, so of course max was in the “madonna” phase, in which she experimented to her best ability to pull off some of the looks of her current favorite pop star. but unfortunately her hair never managed to stay poofed up, no matter how many products she tried out. striding into the arcade, she immediately turned to the nearest person, whirling them around with her important question. “how’s it holding up? does it look like the ‘live to tell’ video?”

All Pea was trying to do was get through the shopping center in peace. It was a big change walking around and not having people know where you came from, who you were apart of, or what you might have done. People felt comfortable talking to him and that made him feel oddly freeing and uneasy at the same time. As hands grabbed for him he recoiled immediately and called out. “Watch it will you!” he snapped shrugging away the hands. “What the hell are you even talking about?” Even if he was from a different time he was never a huge Madonna person and had no idea what video style she was trying to mimic. “What is ‘Live to tell’?” 

           WHEN HE ASKED how many she had made, she was hit with the sudden realization that she had posted numerous others all around the town. it wasn’t a big town by any means. she knew the owners of just about every store, she babysat the kids that ran the playground a time or two before, and the parents, she knew from field trips and birthday parties she attended growing up. the sudden feeling of dismay embodied her as her only expectation would be that they all thought of her to be forlorn with her mistake. maybe they would even make a joke of it and donate to her a few room mats. seeing that sweet pea provided her with the assurance needed that she would finally be able to move out of her parent’s house, maybe she’d actually take them and show them her efforts didn’t go unrewarded. they could be useful after all. ❝ i made about two hundred . . and they’re everywhere. ❞ she chortled, an unexpected reaction for someone who just wasted twenty dollars. if she knew it was going to be as easy as posting one and calling on a random man who was simply walking by’s attention, she would have just made the one and spent ten cents. ❝ maybe some bored civilians will find some use of them and turn them into scrap paper for drawing, or crafts and arts. ❞ it would’ve been a better outcome than in the trash.

❝ a bed and a shower ? no complaints here, but you’re not really holding yourself to too high of standards, aren’t ‘cha, sweets ? ❞ sweet pea. she thought his name to be uncanny for a man as colossal and rugged, most especially when mentioning the lack of expectations for a place he would attach the word home to, ❝ but, forgive me, for i have to ask. why’s it sweet pea ? was thorn and poison ivy taken ? ❞ if she was going to share a roof with him, she figured she had a right to a few questions here and there. ❝ and before i run to the phone to get us that apartment, i feel i should ask where it is you come from, what’re your dreams and of course … what’s your favorite movie ? i’m hitting you with the big ones, i know. no pressure. ❞

At least the girl seemed nice enough, she didn’t seem like she was going to cause him any problems and as much as he planned on just being in and out for work he doubted he’d even have to spend much time with her. “Jeez, two hundred, huh? You really want this roommate don’t you?” He joked, he didn’t mean to come off so serious but it was Sweet pea he always was that Serpent looming over everyone with a famous scowl. But he was trying. “Maybe, or they could just use your number and prank you. You know call about what color mats you prefer for your place.” 

“What is the point of needing a lot? In the end that is all a person really should need.” Obviously he needed to learn that this wasn’t the Southside anymore, people didn’t seem to need to all be scraping by. 

He shook his head. “It just is. You really don’t need a reason. You’ll call me Sweet pea. I’m not asking why your name is Tammy am I?” He quickly snapped. Pea was not good with getting personal which was why his first instinct was to shoot down the line of questions right away. Just his face alone showed he was not really comfortable. He got it, since moving in with someone you have to know who they were but that didn’t mean he was used to it. Back in the Southside, with the Serpents, if you needed a place to crash it was no questions asked, no need for a personal connection. But the last thing he needed was to show the girl he was non-compliant. Shit. He thought. 

He couldn’t even answer right away. It wasn’t like he could just tell the girl his favorite movie was Deadpool...he wasn’t even sure what movies would be out and popular around this time. “My dreams? You don’t think these questions are kind of stupid don’t you? Look I like... Nightmare on Elms Street.” That was out, right? He shifted in the thick leather jacket and cleared his throat. “Riverdale. That’s where I come from. I needed a uh... break or whatever and I got an aunt a few towns away that says Hawkins was good for that.” It was a legitimate lie, nothing to detailed that he’d have to string along and hopefully it made up for his snappy responses. 

(¸.• ♛ → “I thought the same.” She admitted now looking at the guy with a small sigh escaped from her lips. "I hate not knowing what’s going on, something is very familiar here but also very off and…this makes me uneasy.” The girl said now just taking a sip from the drink that she has been drinking before. “You really believe thatt? I don’t know, that sounds weird. I mean, the little game was weird, what my dad was doing was odd and evil…but this? This looks like magic or something, sounds strange but…I don’t know, maybe we are just crazy and we are dreaming, maybe that can be it or that’s what I’ve been telling myself lately to not go out of my mind.”

“I’m not too big on this either. It’s fucked up.” He said rolling his eyes. One thing Pea hated was not having control of things, it was his spark of anger that showed because of it. “Well, I plan on finding out what is going on. I can’t sit around here and do nothing and I’m sure as hell not sticking around the 80′s. “Yeah, I mean... what else is there to think... to be honest it doesn’t even matter how it happened because it fucking did. What matters is that it gets fixed.” He said stubbornly. Pea was having a hard enough time being alone he didn’t want to think about never seeing his friends again... or having to live back in time much longer. “Magic isn’t real, Veronica. There has to be some real explanation and if it’s a dream I sure want to know which one of us is having it.”

       “yeah? and how are you enjoying hawkins so far? have you managed to have a good look around?” maggie asked as she put the money in the register. “there are some pretty cool places in this town.”

“It’s... different.” What other way was there to put it? The place was nothing like Riverdale and as much as he always thought about leaving the drama of it all he didn’t mean in this way, This time travel bullshit was something that Pea didn’t want to get used to. “Yeah? I’ve only been around a few days so I haven’t gotten to see any really cool places. I mean...the arcade is alright.”

(¸.• ♛ → “Nothing, it doesn’t matter.” It was something not worthless to tell, besides, right now she has more important things to ask. “I thought I was alone here, you are the only familiar face I’ve seen.” And now she was feeling less worry but still a bit for everything, she couldn’t help it, all of this was weird. “I have no idea how this happened, I’m trying to adjust, obviously but I don’t get how this is even possible, I mean, how this can happen, Riverdale was odd but not this odd.”

 Pea was bitter. He was always surrounded by his Serpents. Now he was alone and when she brought up being alone he felt a ridged reminder of his family not being seen. “Yeah, same here. I ended up here out of fucking no where as if I was being put through some really elaborate prank.” He really had thought someone was messing with him when he arrived. “Maybe that’s the thing. It is that fucking odd. I mean... the shit show the place has turned into lately? Maybe this just was some final break in the space time... whatever-you-call-it.” 

          THE ARCHES OF her lips would fall, unkinking a glower as her eyebrows crinkled in trepidation. he wasn’t wrong. she was made a fool and only had herself to blame. forthwith she jerked the piece of paper from it’s hanging stance, the thumbtack falling to the ground down under, as she crumbled the ad.  ❝ well i wouldn’t imagine anyone would want to split the rent with someone who was illiterate . . which i’m not. i  just couldn’t wait to get these up. ❞ with that she would toss her once high hopes into the waste bin. or more so she thought until the male imposed a concern looking further into the bigger issue at hand. ❝     you’d be interested ? ❞ her tightened muscles would slacken, ❝ well, as soon as possible. i found this rad little house down one of the side streets leaving town. it’s only about a ten minute walk to the center. it comes furnished and with two rooms, only one bathroom, but it’s spacious . . it would totally suck to have to pass it up. ❞ she flashed the male a minute twinkle as she turned to get a better look at him, ❝ name’s tammy thompson, by the way. ❞

 That was exactly where Pea was going with this. But as he watched the girl crumple the page and let it go off and out of sight the boy could only smirk. “right, it’s kind of something they would avoid.” In Pea’s case the boy had been caught with realizing her mistake. He at least had that on everyone just looking at the flyers; something he forgot had been so popular, times were so different. He would have seen the ad up on Facebook and the only may she would have made a mistake is if autocorrect flipped the word around. Oh, and don’t forget the emojis. “How many of these did you end up making anyway?” He asked tilting his head. 

  “Yeah, I need a place closer to town and if I can cut rent in half then why the hell not.” The girl talked about the place it only made him laugh. She had no idea what he was used to when it came to a home seeing he spent his time in a trailer or tent city. “Look, if it’s got a bed and a shower? I’m down. I am up for moving in at any time... I mean... I still got to get a job but I’m workin’ on that. I can’t see it being too hard. It’s why I need a place actually, I live too far out of town.” He said running his hands through Raven locks before letting the curl that framed his face flop down again, always falling right into place. “The name’s Sweet pea.”
