Misa Amane is such a fascinating character bc she is doomed before the narrative even starts. Two literal GODS OF DEATH sacrifice their lives to give her a second, and third, chance, and she throws those chances away without a moment’s hesitation bc she’s so far gone that she doesn’t want to be saved. If she hinges her entire personality on one person, on one goal, then maybe she doesn’t ever have to think ab what she’s doing and what’s been done to her. It’s so painful for her to be human that she happily and deliberately kills herself a little at a time
