If you are a socially anxious person, you have to socialize. Your panic/anxiety attacks will only get worse and trigger more frequently if you constantly avoid contact with The Public. Not saying that you need to be a social butterfly- but there is a genuine problem with not being able to order your own meal at a restaurant. And it cannot be solved by always having someone else do it for you.

I might sound miserable most of the time but at my core Iâm a very hopeful person
one of the most boring lessons Iâve learned is that when a task feels overwhelming, you just have to start doing it. Even if youâre not sure how to do 90% of it, look for one small component that seems close and start there. Sometimes itâs reading one article on the topic, or searching one related term, or literally just googling how to do the task. Do anything other than thinking about it. The process of working on a thing inherently makes it less scary.
some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, âwhatâs the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?â and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is âunofficialâ, and we know thatâs not the right word, but itâs the only word we can come up withâŚuntil finally itâs like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is âartificialâ.

Look, it's simple. If a person has to actively work to make money, they're not "the rich" and they're not the problem. A surgeon making $200k a year still stops making money if they stop showing up to do surgery, because they're still selling their labor. The radical discrepancies in how we value different skills are certainly a problem, but the guy who makes money when he doesn't even get out of bed is the one making money on the value of other people's labor.

Stay productive when you are sick
If youâre not a morning person, you know the struggle. Itâs not just about waking up, itâs about actually getting yourself to do stuff in the morning. While I usually recommend you adapt to your bodyâs own schedule, as youâll work much better, school, work or other activities may not allow you to do so. Therefore, hereâs a guide on how to get shit done in the morning.
The night before
Prepare whatever study materials youâre going to use that day. Open your notes and make sure you know where you should start (i personally lay a pen on the exact paragraph).
Put a bottle of water and some tea (with caffeine) or coffee on your desk so that you donât have to go get it next morning.Â
If youâre usually cold in the mornings, get yourself a blanket. I promise you mine has made me more productive than all the coffee Iâve ever had.
Write a to-do list for next day. Then distribute those tasks in a schedule (you can either use a printable or just scribble it on some piece of paper). Take into account youâll need time for breakfast and personal hygiene.Â
Other than that, donât leave anything else on your desk, as it may be distracting.
Make an effort to go to bed at least an hour earlier. It makes a huge difference when you wake upÂ
Actually waking up
if you struggle to wake up, try the following:
Ask someone to wake you up (a parent, a roommate).
Put your phone accross the room and inside a glass to amplify the sound.
If your phone has an option for voice alarm, use it. Make it something really motivating or, even better, really annoying.
Combine all of the above for foolproof results.
Tips to get stuff done
Chug your liquids! -Â The very first thing you should do after your feet touch the floor is drink some water and drink something caffeinated (yes, in that order) (caffeine because it will kick in by the time youâre done with breakfast and water because caffeine can be dehydrating + water will also jumpstart your body).
Put on some fluffy socks - okay maybe this is just a personal thing but Iâm personally much less likely to go back to bed once i have some socks on.
Smol workout - do something that will send blood to your brain. It can literally be ten jumping jacks.
Breakfast? Not yet -Â youâve gotten up, you want food, understandable. BUT remember that book/notebook you put on your table last night? Well, get to work on it for 15-30 minutes. You may be sleepy and not able to comprehend much of what youâre doing, but the important thing is that once you come back from having breakfast, you will already have started, which is the most difficult part.
Avoid anything with a shit-ton of sugar - it will give you a sugar crash in about an hour and all youâll want to do is go back to bed. (Personal rec is overnight oats with some fruit on top - delicious, fast af and super filling and energizing).
A big breakfast can make you sleepy. Instead, make it a little bit smaller and have some healthy snacks (like hummus) throughout the morning. Look at them as your reward for studying.
Stay off the internet. During breakfast, I find that social media (especially youtube) tend to put me off working afterwards, as they give me something more insteresting to do. Therefore I reccommend you either find something else to do (write your to do list, read a book) or limit your Internet time to 5-10 minutes.
Remember that you control your mindset. If after doing all of this you still donât feel like studying, itâs perfectly okay to stare at your desk for five minutes and have an argument with yourself about how much you do want to study. Seems stupid but trust me, it works most of the time.

We need to get a little uncomfortable for a minute. But it's ok. You have to be uncomfortable in order to grow.
You're going to fail. You're going to disappoint people and yourself. You're going to have moments where you're so overwhelmed that you're curled in a ball crying and frustrated. You're going to miss important milestones. You're going to drop the ball so many times things seem impossible. You're going to fail. You're going to be mean. You're going to be a bad person at points. It's life. It happens. You just need to understand that it happens. And on those days where you want to dissappear and never be seen again because everything is too much, your brain is going to amplify all these faults and failures and make them seem worse.
Babe. We all go through this. We ALL fail. We ALL make awful choices and fuck people and ourselves over. We ALL will have moments where we are the villains. Where we completely fail a lot of people in our lives due to bad decisions. It will happen. Probably multiple times. What matters is that you recognize these things and make appropriate changes in your life to help make sure that next time isn't as bad. Maybe start learning time management so you're not stressed constantly and blowing up on everyone. Maybe find a healthy outlet like painting or the gym or cooking. Find small, simple joys to make life better. It's going to suck. You're going to be the bad guy. But that's not your entire life.
It's uncomfortable and hard to sit with. Sometimes things are your fault. Sometimes you make bad choices and they fuck your life up and fuck others over at the same time. It happens. You can't change the past, but you have the power to change your future. You can change your future. Talk to people. Find yourself outlets. Learn skills. Things get better, but they only do so if you put the effort for them to do so. I love you. You're trying. And that's all you can do. And one day you'll slip backwards and feel so defeated but when that happens, you'll have many tools to help you get even further. I promise babe everything will be ok.
