But the horrorâŚ. The horror was for love.
RED GHOST by AKIHITO
The things we do for love like this are ugly, mad, full of sweat and regret. This love burns you and maims you and twists you inside out. It is a monstrous love and it makes monsters of us all.Â
I watched Crimson Peak from Guillermo del Toro for the first time this week, and I fell in love with this movie, it inspired me to draw Victorian dress style :)
Since childhood I have been faithful to monsters. Because monsters, I believe, are our patron saints of blissful imperfection.

So I didnât know that this was the actual motto for Cumbria in England, so I was at first just surprised that the Latin works correctly.Â
A simple translation of the phrase would be âI lifted eyes to the hillsâ, as there are no pronouns given, but the phrase comes from Psalm 121, which is more specific about it being âI lifted my eyes to the hillsâ (in the Clementine Vulgate). In the Book of Common Prayer, the phrase is translated as âI will liftâ.Â
But Lucille translates it differently. Lucille translates it as, âTo the hills we lift our eyes.â This is factually⌠wrong. First of all, itâs in the perfect past tense, but second of all, itâs only one person speaking. I think itâs indicative of each characterâs temporal placement⌠Thomas is stuck in the past, unable to let go of his sister, or the estate, Edith looks to the future, and Lucille stays in the present. While Lucille may seem the most realistic of the three by virtue of that, she also ignores the consequences on both past and future, choosing to do whatever she can to live another day.
And, obviously, she canât separate herself from her brother, either, which is why it must be âweâ and not âIâ.Â
âItâs all out in the open now. No need to pretendâ

Crimson peak.
Ghosts are real, this I knowâŚ
Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley (30 August 1797 â 1 February 1851)
Percy Shelley drowned while sailing in 1822, at the age of 29. Shelleyâs body and those of his two sailing companions were found 10 days later, identifiable only by their clothing. Shelley had stashed a book of John Keats poems in his pocket.
The poet was cremated, but for some reason, his heart refused to burn. Modern-day physicians believe it may have calcified due to an earlier bout with tuberculosis. Though Percyâs friend, Leigh Hunt, originally claimed the heartâhe was there for the funeral pyre-style cremation and felt he had a right to keep the unscathed organâit was eventually turned over to Mary.
âWhen Shelleyâs corpse washed ashore, a friend identified it by a copy of Keatsâs 1820 volume in the coat pocket, which he knew Shelley had taken with him. Then, after cremation in which Shelleyâs heart, hardened by calcium, did not burn, this same friend snatched it from the embers and presented it to Mary Shelley, who kept it thereafter in her desk, wrapped in a copy of âAdonais.â
Instead of burying it with the rest of his remains in the Protestant Cemetery in Rome, Mary kept the heart in a silken shroud, and is said to have carried it with her nearly everywhere for almost 30 years. In 1852, a year after she died, Percyâs heart was found in her desk drawer. It was wrapped in the pages of one of his last poems, Adonais. The heart was eventually buried in the family vault with their son, Percy Florence Shelley, when he died in 1889.
Frankenstein author Mary Shelley kept her dead husbandâs heart and carried it with her for almost 30 years until she died in 1851. It was found in a desk drawer a year later, wrapped in a copy of one of his final poems. [source]Â

Favourite Director: Guillermo del Toro
I think one of my favourite things about Murder House Puffy Sleeves, aka Crimson Peak, aka the best goddamn film in the universe, is in the end it just comes down to a knife fight between pre-raphaelites:
like, JUST SAYING
