Okay but this is actually a good thing, and it’s how you build attendance!! Gotham did this with Mamdani like 3 months ago, offering 1,000 $5 tickets for the Boston game and they sold out instantly AND Gotham had the greatest attendance in Harrison they’ve had all season, as well as one of their biggest home game crowds in club history (I think top 5?). They also did 4,000 $15 tickets for Queens Classic, which had obviously incredible attendance. I was annoyed it took them so long to realize a $5 ticket deal would work.

This is how Spirit attendance grew to what it is today as well. Tickets were extremely low priced, staff was often just in front of the Navy Yard metro stop handing them out for free a couple hours before game time, there were tons of deals and bundles, and to this day your first game is free excluding fees.

People won’t want to pay $30+ for a ticket to a game where the team isn’t great, they don’t know how the experience will be, and maybe they’ve never even heard of the team or the league. But $5? That’s how you get people in.
