“awwww—-i don’t want to go—-typical words from every loser who’s never been invited to a party. maybe once your voice drops, but i wouldn’t count on it.”

Dallas stopped smiling rather quickly when she started talking. “Wow, you’re funny--good one, you complain about your parties but you don’t even invite people who you don’t find cool?”

“aw, if it isn’t babyface reilly, looking as clueless as ever. aren’t the second years supposed to be in potions right now? you better scurry back to class before a prefect sees, sweetie.”

“Very funny, I am not a second year so lucky for me I don’t have to be in potions. I do not have a baby face, look I just don’t get invited to your parties. Sometimes I don’t want to go,” Dallas whispered the last part under his breath.

“—-all i can say is: it’s clear that when valeria carrow leaves the castle, so does ANY hope of a decent party. even with the threat of naked weasleys, it sounded like a snooze-fest. luckily for you plebs, i’m back.”

“Who are you?”

“no, i did not attend the ‘party to end all parties’ last night. i prefer my fun spent outside of the  s n a k e  p i t  – and no, i’m not saying that to be mean. my best friends are in that house  - - - -  i just don’t trust anyone there, quidditch rager or otherwise, not to use ‘drunken ro escapades’ as a means for blackmail. i’m a prefect for merlin’s sake, you people will never see me in any state less than classy.” 

“I heard it wasn’t the best anyways,” Dallas muttered as he listened to Rose talk about why she wouldn’t be found anywhere near the party. “There was way too much alcohol involved and I hate that stuff too, I’m glad someone else doesn’t like it either.” He gave her a small smile. 

Callum shook his head, his shoulders raising in a lazy shrug. “Nothing — I honestly was just hoping you weren’t busy and that we could finally spend some time together without having our faces buried in books.”

“Okay, let's do something Callum--my treat,” Dallas stood up from his seat and stretched. “We can explore the grounds or escape into some daring adventure?”

she snorted, “aside from having no friends?” she asked, then shook her head. “i couldn’t. i know i’m not always the easiest person and they’re good to me.”

Dallas nodded feeling bad for saying something like that. “I’m sorry, don’t lose them then especially if you find someone who is good to you.”

“do i have to? i mean, no. i mostly hang around lily and wendy, really. it’s more… coincidental with the rest.” she explained, shrugging her shoulders.

“Oh okay,” Dallas remained quiet for a bit before responding back. “What happens if you tell them to leave you alone?” He knew that wouldn’t happen but the idea was there for her.

His gaze moved down towards their hands as Dallas’ touched his, a soft smile meeting his lips. “Yeah well… easy for YOU to say when we already both know how much you like to make me blush,” shaking his head he couldn’t help but laugh and relax a little further. “Say… what are your plans for today…?”

Dallas shrugged. “I don’t really have much to do today, I’m practically done with everything, is there a reason why? What do you have planned?” Dallas looked over to him a small smile starting to form.

evie snorted at his response, “hardly.” she told him, shaking her head, “just have very… bubbly friends.”

“That makes sense,” Dallas sighed as he tapped his quill on his textbook. “Do you have to hang around all the Potters and Weasleys?” 

evie shrugged her shoulders, “it’s fine, i’m looking for a little quiet.” she admitted. being friends with the potter family had it’s drawbacks. not the least of which was that as a very introverted girl, it was hard to ever be in the quiet. “thanks, though.”

Dallas nodded giving her a small smile before glancing down at his book. “What are you--too popular?” he joked as he quickly jotted down messy notes. 

Peace and quiet was novelty at Hogwarts. Ares reckoned he really should have appreciated it more for the fifteen minutes he had it — before someone came barging in, messing up his concentration and, as consequence, his entire spellwork. “I am not inherently violent but, by all means, continue to intricate yourself into my personal space.”

Dallas looked at the boy squinted at Ares before rolling his eyes. “Sorry I was trying to escape from the weather out there? I’m not afraid of being violent either, so please watch your manners just a bit?” he was one to spew words before realizing what he had just said. Clearing his throat he sighed. “Wait no--I am sorry like honestly, I don’t mean to start anything,” Dallas was working on himself and he figured this wouldn’t take anything back but it was a start.
