It actually pisses me off more knowing Tumblr was perfectly able to solve its cp problem but just didnât until it ended up on the news
I dunno if banning half the userbase with poorly-coded bots qualifies as âperfectly ableâ
Despite glitchiness, they wiped MAP and MAP positivity tags, have put in a new report for drawn CP, have cleared out drawn CP tags, have deleted multiple known pedophilesâ blogs.
Even if some people had to be taken down on the way (with a system in place that makes your blog easily obtainable if you feel youâve been wrongly deleted, with all of your posts and blogs still in tact), they fixed the problem within a few days.
So, to reiterate:
Tumblr was perfectly able to solve its cp problem but just didnât until it ended up on the news
Further, the bots were poorly-coded because they were slapped together too quickly as a form of âdamage controlâ in order to address the app being removed from app stores.
Had they done things the right way from the start, taken the time to design better bots or systems, the improper deletions wouldnât have happened, or at least could have been far more limited.
They had plenty of time; the users have been asking for these issues to be addressed for years, after all.
I realize this is a cast iron gate but Iâm choosing to believe itâs a magic protection ritual
It IS a magic protection ritual, and it summons an iron gate to protect you from intruders.Â
You have to enchant the iron so it protects against the fae.

When you pick up a sword for the first time you will be slow and awkward. This is frustrating, but refuse the temptation to try and become a âfasterâ fencer. Chasing after speed is like trying to catch smoke. If you try and pursue speed, all you will accomplish is haste. Haste is the enemy of 1st class fencing.
Speed is a lie the untrained mind tells itself when it sees an action it cannot follow. The truth is a combination of timing, control, and fluidity. Fluid motion, even done slowly, will always arrive before a hasty strike. Control will allow you to move without wasteful motion that will slow you down. Timing will eliminate the need to move fast almost entirely. There is no need to get somewhere fast so long as you get there at the right time. Â
Slow is steady, steady is smooth, smooth is fast.
My old fencing coach used to say exactly that, word for word.
can we talk about this
See how a group of Swedish police officers responded when a fight broke out on the New York subway.
Four Swedish police officersâ New York vacation was interrupted when a fight broke out on the subway. The train operator called for support, and â being cops and all â they dutifully stepped in to help until local authorities arrived.
The visiting cops had to subdue the two men involved in the fight, which no doubt takes skill to do safely. But itâs how they did their job after they gained control that really impressed people.
Watch the full video here.
AND THEY DID IT UNARMED.
Say it louder for those in the back to hear. Calmly and unarmed.
Cops who help people, calmly disable a situation and restore public order rather than flex their authority, escalate the situation leading to a shit storm? InterestingâŚ.
Apparently police officers doing their job right, is suggested by some as âoversteppingâ.
Which in this context means that 4 swedish cops, who were on vacation, not only showed up an entire police force, but outperformed and outshone them, in the space of a few minutes.
And if thatâs âoversteppingâ then it needs to happen far more often.
If this situation doesnât add to the case of the overwhelming incompetence of the state of the entire police force in America, then America really is screwed.
Okay but after seeing this I started doing it too and itâs amazing how many men Iâve run into bc they expected me to move
Gotta try it
I work (and walk) on a college campus. Iâve lost count of how many men Iâve smacked shoulders with.
Recently, I was standing outside my sonâs classroom waiting to talk to his teacher. I stood on one side of the hallway, not even close to the center. At some point, a man came walking along. I was standing right in his path, but the hallway was empty, so I logically expected him to swerve around me. Instead he kept walking right toward me, got to me, and stopped, as if waiting for me to get out of his way. I didnât; I just smiled politely at him. He finally walked around me, clearly annoyed that I hadnât leapt out of his manly path.
Now Iâm wishing Iâd leapt aside, taken off my jacket and laid it on the floor before him, then bowed deeply and said, âMy Liege!â
I also work at a college campus. I smack shoulders sometimes, but I find that if I stare straight ahead and follow the advice below, people get the heck out of the way.
Honestly this post changed how I carry myself when walking alone in public, or in a situation where Iâm the one leading. People definitely move for the murder gaze.
Confirmed. I once had to rush back inside a convention hall as the con was closing in order to a retrieve a sick friendâs medication, and I didnât understand why people in the crowd were jumping out of my way (literallyâone guy vaulted a table) until I realized I was dressed as the Winter Soldier and doing the Murder Walk because thatâs just how I walk in those boots. I got the meds, got out, and made a mental note.
I repeated the experiment later, wearing the boots but otherwise my usual clothing and mimicking the expression I thought Iâd had at that moment. People parted like I was Charlton Heston.
I now wear that style of boots whenever possible. I recently had a man do a double-take as I walked by and ask me, politely, where I had served because I âlooked like a soldier.â Iâm not current or former military. I was wearing a flowy purple peasant top and looked as un-soldierlike as possible.
Moral of the story: wear comfortable shoes, square your shoulders, and walk like youâve been sent to murder Captain America.
WALK LIKE YOUâVE BEEN SENT TO MURDER CAPTAIN AMERICA
I will always reblog this post, because it works!! Even when coming up to a large group of teenage lads, who are taking up the entire pathway and had not moved for adult males let alone anyone else, got the HELL out of the way for the murder walk!!!
Always reblog for the Murder Walk.
Iâve heard it referred to as The Queenâs Walk, but Murder Walk works just as well. Itâs part of how I navigate crowds (in conjunction with learning to read the flow or current of the crowd).
They key for me is to keep my gazed fixed on the path I wish to take. I keep it firm but slightly relaxed, like as if the other people do not exist in my world.
Holy. Balls. This was the highlight of my night. Murder walk is now my prefered mode of transportation.Â
again, WALK WALK MURDER BABY
I do this ALL. THE. TIME. I stand at 5â˛10âł and I have a wide build so when I put on my Murder Walk Face â˘, people get out of my way FAST. God forbid I put on heels. Crowds part and humans scatter. Itâs lovely. 10/10 would recommend.

al jazeera article explaining what happened here (article published 11/14/18)
KEY QUOTE FROM THE ARTICLE:
If Congress does not pass legislation protecting the tribe and the legal challenge fails, the Mashpee would be stripped of their right to exercise sovereign jurisdiction over their land.
Jessie Little Doe Baird, the tribeâs vice-chairwoman, told Al Jazeera that loss of jurisdiction would prevent the tribe from running indigenous language schools, tribal courts, and housing projects, as well as its own police.
âWe have our own police force, which is important because theyâre tribal citizens and since weâve had our own police force, none of our men have been beaten or shot, which weâve had before with non-tribal police,â she said.
