“Parenting the RPG”
As a gamer and a parent, I sometimes feel like I have very few options in convincing my kiddos to do things. Things like “Stop trying to climb the couch” or “You need to eat” and also “Let’s go get that food you asked for.” “CP” is short for “Coffee Points” in case anyone was wondering.
“Fashion”
For whatever reason, Jellybean INSISTS on wearing her favorite “blue shirt” and “green sparkle pants” all the time. Push comes to shove, she’ll accept a different blue shirt or different “sparkle pants”.
Little Dude rarely likes it when I sing songs with him. I have no idea why since he likes singing with his dad and Jellybean. I don’t take offense and I kind of find it funny.
“Hangry Games” Sometimes it’s the reverse. Sometimes neither of them want to eat when it’s time. Other times, they ask for food and eat it right away. It is is all up to chance. And yes, Little Dude seriously makes a “nom-nom-nom” sound when he’s eating something he likes.

"Echolalia”
Sometimes, Jellybean will say things out of nowhere that don’t seem to have any context. Much like her repeating back “the wrong part of the script” as I mentioned in the comic: “Good Asking”, she has a tendency to use delayed echolalia and repeat parts of shows she has seen (mostly things from PBS kids). As her parents, we usually know what she’s quoting but strangers might not understand what is going on.
New Bio pictures for my husband and myself. Updated “The Family” page to reflect this. Actual comics will resume next week.
Since I’m going digital with my art, I’m updating the Biographies this week and next.
“Good Asking!”
Jellybean has a speech delay so she doesn’t always talk but she can so we’re working with her on using her words to tell us what she wants.
She has a cute, quirky habit of echoing back “the wrong part of the script” as I put it. This includes “please-ok” instead of just “please” because we tend to reply to her requests with “Ok” and saying “Good asking!” because we’ve praised her asking us clearly in the past.
We try to repeat a lot of the bedtime routines of Jellybean’s favorite shows. One of those things is counting down from 5 to signal it’s time to chill out and go to sleep. Jellybean doesn’t always have the best volume control.

“Proprioception”
Among Jellybean’s sensory needs is the desire for bear hugs from me. She also loves to pet my hair from time to time. It’s really endearing and I’ll always make time for “squeeze hugs”.
My mother-in-law surprised us with the money we needed for a new computer so I created bios for my husband and myself.
So my toddler LOVES ice cream…
Throwback Thursday: Drew this comic back when Jellybean was a baby. One night she was nibbling her food then throwing the rest off the side of the tray. She did this a few times. Once the rice fell on the edge of the tray and she promptly flicked it off.
Meet “Jellybean” and “Little Dude”, my two kids. Aside from the occasional (and perfectly normal) sibling scuffles, these two love each other dearly. Jellybean has always been an amazingly doting sister from day one and Little Dude looks up to his big sister.

The Glasses: Part 2: Acceptance
So after wasting $200 on the first pair of glasses, I bought Jellybean some glasses for $75. We figure the soft plastic frames on the first pair was what was upsetting her. Aside from a few incidents, she wears the new glasses with no trouble at all.
