Where is my Mr. Darcy?

“Well you’re not the only one, I must say I’m not sure I can be who they really want me to be.”

“No, you’re right. I guess you can’t please everyone. It seems like I spend my entire life trying to the point I feel empty and I’m not happy.”

She walked around the room for a few seconds thinking about her reply, but finally stopped when the right words came to her. “Maybe you should stop trying so hard and do something that makes you happy.”

Smiling he thanked her with another hug, “I do have to get going but text me and let me know when you’re free to go do stuff okay little miss blue bird.” He chuckled, calling her one of the few nicknames from college.

Hugging him back felt amazing, like they were right back into the swing of their friendship they had when in college.  She had missed him but hadn’t realized just how much till that very moment.  Her cheeks turning red as he called her the nickname that only a few people close to her knew.  “I’ll be sure to text you.  Wait you’re number hasn’t changed has it?” she checked just making sure.

“Well you’re not the only one, I must say I’m not sure I can be who they really want me to be.”

“I know the feeling,” Gabriel agreed, glancing down with a small sigh.

“But hey, we can’t please everyone, now can we?” she smiled softly, hoping to brighten the mood a little.
