We don't deal with outsiders very well

When Scott’s eyes drifted away fleetingly, he let out a small breath and scooted closer to him – reaching out gingerly with his shaky, injured hand to wrap his fingers around Scott’s hand. “ – I love you,” he breathed in returned, thinning his lips for a moment. “We could start by trying to figure out how the nogistune got here - “ he started, voice slightly strained at the topic of the void ;; fingers subconsciously tightening. “It was buried under the nemeton – he couldn’t have gotten here, back to me, alone.”

“I mean...I think that we both know that Jennifer knew more about the nemeton than the hunters ever could, but I guess that’s not proof that she did it.” Scott frowned deeply, still furious that the coven or whoever it had been had been able to hurt Stiles again through way of the nogitsune. 

The emissary let out a long breath before his tongue darted out to moisten his bottom lip. He knew that the alpha was worried about him – he knew. And he appreciated the worry ; but they had so much more than himself to worry about. “I’m okay, Scott. I’m … – It’s getting there. I’m getting there. The medicine is helping some – and you… – you being here ; you’re amazing. You don’t have to worry so much, I promise.”

“Sorry. I can’t exactly help it,” Scott said softly, his eyes drifting away from Stiles for a moment before he looked back at him. “I love you. I’m sorry. You’re right. I don’t even know which group to focus on though. We haven’t really seen or heard anything about the hunters since we’ve transferred camps.” 

“I just– I annoy people, when I talk..”

“Mac, you don’t. I swear you don’t. You make people smile.”

“My happiness doesn’t matter when I’m hurting someone else.”

“You get that you’re hurting him worse by shutting him out, right?”

“ So – … are we just going to continue to sit around? I mean, we’re safe and all. But ; for how long? We still have hunters out there looking for us. Not to mention a coven with a vendetta against us. Sitting around just feels … stagnant . “

“ .. probably in college. Still on Christmas break. Figuring out what classes we want to take in the next semester. .. nothing like this.”

“That sounds much better. I miss just doing nothing with you on Christmas break. I wonder if you still would have been my New Years kiss though if none of this zombie stuff had happened.”

“It’s the New Year. Hard to believe that all this shit started back in May.”

“I know. I can’t believe it’s already been seven months. I wonder what we would be doing for New Years this year if none of this had happened.”

“Nothing good can come of this”.

“That’s kind of where I’m at, but I hate that I feel that way.”

Blake felt light, uncharacteristically so. She shook her head quickly, “No, I can find them. Thank you, Scott.” 

“Because it doesn’t.”

“You deserve to be happy, Cora...I don’t know why you think you don’t.”

“We aren’t gonna let that happen.”

“...Okay.”
