Never say never. The world is a complex place. Sometimes our destiny is determined by events that are out of our control.
Chase, if we do find me and stop what happened from happening--
Then you won't be there to save me from the dark side. This may not be the future I would choose but is the future that must be for the greater good.
Chase taught Omi this lesson twice.
The parallel about not having a true choice in what side they fall on, because sometimes fate simply must be meted. Sometimes choice is an illusion, and some things are larger than them. It's a genuine warning, because he sees to much of himself in Omi and he knows how this goes, how it keeps going.
And Omi is so persistent in his determination to refuse to accept that. Omi's prideful and confident, he refuses to kowtow even to things that bring Chase to his knees.
And that's something Chase himself recognizes. He undermines his own lessons by acknowledging that even though fate pulls his strings, deep down, he seem to think that Omi could be above all of that.
It's the monks that have me concerned. Especially one.
Remember, little one. As the past can be changed so can the future. Only time will tell.
Either consciously or subconsciously, Chase sees Omi as this one variable that is chaotic enough to be decoupled from the whims of fate that even Chase himself thinks he can't go against.
He thinks that Omi is this wildcard has this freedom that could overpower the universe itself, by sheer strength of will. And Chase has always maintained that strength of will is the one determinant factor in any struggle.
