Country Girl Loves to Write

After much consideration, I have decided to create a new blog for my short stories (non-fanfiction). As of right now, I'm planning on making it by September. I hope you will all check it out when the time comes. Below is a short scene for a short story. I hope you enjoy it! Let me know if you want more!

When one is born, a bond begins, forged through fire and ash. The guards rest amongst the ashes and wait for the burning to commence. The burning is brutal but necessary to ensure the one they are meant to protect has arrived and is waiting. Soon, they leave their ashes and soar. Size does not matter to them, nor does it matter to the people. For centuries, that was the way it was. Battles raged and the guards became more than feared and less respected.

Unfortunately, fewer guards left the ashes as the years passed, and fewer people believed in the bond between fire and ash. They became myths and no one dared to mention the tales for fear of allowing the myths to become real. Little did they know, the fire and ash would awaken and a bond would form between a young librarian and her protector. A bond that would create a new reign and new world. A world many never to return.
