A man starts complaining about how “the mobility aids are taking up too much room in the aisle” about me and two older folks (in their 80s+), a man with a cane and a woman with a seat-type walker, in the disability seats. He starts trying to get the attention of the woman with a walker by calling her “man” and “sir”, even going so far as to get up and shake her walker to get her attention, to try to tell her to fold it up.

Multiple folks instantly jump to her defense about how “she’s a lady, that’s obviously a woman” and I tell him to stop complaining/touching mobility aids of people in fucking disability seats.

He swaps to me and spends the rest of the ride apologizing for misgendering the woman to the people around him (“I respect women all the time!!”), swapping between threatening to attack me or talking about how I need to “keep that shit (dressing as a woman) at home”. Nobody reacts beyond giving him disapproving side-eye and telling him to “shut up, you’re disturbing everyone” with no reprimand of his transphobia this time.

This is the difference between transmisogyny wrongfully and temporarily levied at TME people and transmisogyny directed at trans women. TME folks get protection whereas for TMA folks the average extent of care is the annoyance/inconvenience to other TME folks.

even if she doesn't "try to pass" she still deserves the same basic respect you give everybody else.

even if she's done something bad that doesn't excuse you misgendering her on purpose.

i'm so sick of people treating trans people's pronouns as some kind of reward you get if you've been a good tranny.

this goes for those who use neopronouns too i dont care how "weird" you think it is especially if you're trans yourself.
