Finally received the details for my flight home!

On March 23rd I’ll fly from Miami to NYC, where I’ll have a two hour lay-over until I can catch my over-night flight to Berlin with Air Berlin. I’ll land in Tegel at 7:30am, on March 24th (1:30am Boston time).

February 23rd - March 23rd, my travel month!!!

In less than two weeks I can leave my host family to start another big adventure: a cross country tour! I’ll fly out to LA, February 23rd, where I will start my tour the next morning. I really hope the weather is a bit better once I’ll arrive in NYC March 15th.

In NYC I’ll meet my mom and my cousin; I’m so excited to see them again, in person, after almost 13 months. The next day we’ll fly to Miami to stay there for another week until I’m going back to Germany.

Talking like we used to do..

Today I want to tell you something about my favorite song of all time. It’s “Mess is mine” by Vancy Joy.. This song has a really special meaning to me and I’ll probably never forget the first time I’ve ever listened to it. 

It’s about how when you’re in love with someone, you take on the whole package [that person brings]. It’s messy, but the mess of life is the good thing. The special thing about relationships is taking on the good and the bad and the messy aspects.

18 days until I can start my travels, finally!

January Boston common; 11/13 months

I haven’t written anything here in a long time so I’ll give you a quick update on how things are going. 

Thanksgiving, Christmas, vacation in California are over and right now I’m desperate to go home. Who would have thought that I would reach a point where I would miss my home country and most of all family and friends this much? Although I’m in my last month with my host family, waiting to finally start my travel month, I’m looking forward to so many things back in Germany already. 

Obviously I’ll miss a lot about my life here, as well, but currently I can’t wait to go back to university, eating all the great food, playing handball and do something that really challenges me from day to day. 

I had a great time here, I met bunches of amazing people I’ll never forget, I had an exceptional experience with my host family, I’ve been to a lot of stunning places and there are many more to come, BUT it’s definitely time for me to come home. Back in August I had a post about the winter time and that I’ll probably just want to go home then as soon as possible - I was right!

My travel month starts February 23rd, I’ll tour cross country for 21 days, meet my mom and cousin in NYC and then we’ll fly out to Miami for another week. I’ll tell you more about this in a separate post. I’m so excited for my travels to start!

Dallas Mavericks at Boston Celtics - 11.17.2015

@elligoestoboston and I had a blast at our first NBA game. Seeing Dirk Nowitzki playing was just amazing. It was kinda hard to pick a team to cheer for, we both wore Celtics jerseys, but in the end we were glad that the mavs were winning.

Harvard vs Penn - 11.14.2015

Another college football game: Harvard University playing Pennsylvania U. The game was fun, but it was sooooo cold so that it almost wasn’t bearable. I can’t really remember the final score, but Penn won by a few points.

Halloween - 10.31.2015

Ich habe Halloween als “The Ring” girl gefeiert. Mich selbst zu schminken hat ewig gedauert, ungefähr 45 Minuten. Ich bin dann mit meiner Gastfamilie noch “trick & treat” gewesen in unserer kleinen Stadt und darauf bin ich dann zu einer College Halloween Party gefahren.

Six Flags New England - Springfield MA

I’ve been on the world’s tallest swing ride (left) - no, definitely not voluntarily.

It’s about 400ft (200m) tall and it’s going backwards.. the view was amazing, otherwise it was the most frightening ride I’ve ever been on. BUT the other roller coasters were soooooooooo much fun! Loved the Batman, the mind eraser, the bizarro (right) and the wicked cyclone...

Boston Esplanade - 09.16.2015

Und hier wären wir auch schon bei meinem letzten Video vom Besuch von Andy und Steffi. Es waren zwei wunderbare, erlebnisreiche, aber auch anstrengend schöne Wochen. Wovon wir leider keine Fotos gemacht haben war Lazertag, Crane’s Beach in Ipswich und Sushi und Seafood all you can eat.

Mittwoch den 16en haben wir gekocht, Bayern in einer Sports Bar geschaut und den Sonnenuntergang an der Esplanade genossen. Danach musste ich mich dann auch schon von den beiden am Flughafen verabschieden..

Vielen Dank an euch zwei, dass ihr mich bei meiner Abschiedsparty damit überrascht habt, ihr tatsächlich nur wegen mir einmal über den Atlantik geflogen seid. Ihr seid die Besten!!!

NYC - 09.8/10.2015

Ich habe Andy und Steffi mit einem Trip nach NYC überrascht. Für mich persönlich war es jetzt schon das dritte Mal in dieser Metropole und es ist immer wieder einzigartig. Überall, wo man eigentlich schon war, sieht man einfach etwas Neues, diese Stadt wird nie langweilig. 

Dieses Mal hatten wir leider etwas Pech mit dem Wetter, am Dienstag war es zu heiß, Mittwoch zu heiß und dann regnerisch und Donnerstag hat es den ganzen Tag geregnet. Es war trotzdem eine sehr schöne Reise!

White Mountains/NH - 09.07.2015

On labor day (national holiday in America) Andy, Steffi, Myriam, Elli & I went hiking up in the White Mountains in New Hampshire. It was quite a trip, about 2,5h each way and it was really hot, but absolutely worth it! We hiked to this beautiful waterfall called Arethusa Falls and pick-nick there. The view was stunning and more than gorgeous.

Boston harbor islands - 09.06.2015

Sunday Andy, Steffi, Elli and I went to two of the Boston harbor islands: Georges Island and Spectacle Island. Both of them are really beautiful and definitely worth visiting! 

One of them is an old prison and the other one has a small beach and hiking paths. The weather was perfect and also we passed “Long Island” which happens to be the island where they filmed the movie “Shutter Island”. 

BC Eagles College football game - 09.05.2015

So, ich habe mich eine ganze Weile nicht mehr gemeldet und werde jetzt wieder meinen Blog auffrischen. Andy und Steffi waren für zwei Wochen hier und wir haben extreeem viele Dinge gemacht.

Am Samstag nach ihrer Ankunft waren wir gleich Mal bei einem college football game. Das ist wohl mit das Coolste, was ich bisher hier so erlebt habe! Das Spiel ging über 3 Stunden und ich finde es unfassbar, dass sich so ein komplettes Station füllt, (was man auf dem Foto noch nicht sehen kann) nur wegen college sports. Verrückt!

Can’t believe I’ve to say that right now, but: It’s been half a year - 08.23.15

Exactly half a year ago I had to get up freaking early to get my plane to NYC, the start to the biggest, greatest adventure of my life. The best experience in nineteen years, so far. At the airport I met this wonderful girl sitting next to me. We flew together, we shared a room at training school (not just the room :D) and we both ended up being in the Boston area - call it destiny, but we still get along with each other. You’re my dearest friend in the US, I couldn’t wish for a better road trip bud, elligoestoboston.

Six months just flew by and I made so many new friends. On my trip to Washington D.C. I had the chance to meet Julia (left) and Myriam (right). Both of them are living in the greater Boston area as well and I’m so happy to have such wonderful friends. You make my time in the US even more precious. I could go on like this for hours, enumerating all the people that I’ve had the chance to spend time with. I hope we’ll all stay in contact once everyone has to go home.

In this short amount of time I’ve seen so many great places, so many beautiful cities, have eaten so much delicious food, but also I’ve never worked out so hard to stay in shape! - I’ve never, ever regretted my choice of leaving my life, family & friends in Germany behind because I’ll enjoy every second of my life here. I love my host parents, my boys, my friends, the nature, all the beaches and the people. I’m still in that Honeymoon feeling - for six months now. Of course, there have been hard times, but that didn’t last for long, usually. 

We’ll see how my mood’s going to be during winter. I bet I just wanna go home as quickly as possible. Until then I’ll enjoy the last months of summer and fall, certainly. Next thursday Andy and Steffi are coming to visit me, I’m so excited about showing them around!

I hope time stops flying by, I’m scared of saying goodbye already.
