2. hongjoong. would look disgusted but politely say 'no, sorry'. if he gave it to you it would be out of pity and hed tell you to keep it. which is like. nice but also watch your TONE
3. yeosang, would look disgusted and say 'ew no'. would MAYBE get you a swig of lukewarm water from a bottle he smuggled into the venue with him if he thought you asked because you were thirsty.
4. yunho. would say 'no its mine' and then look you right in the eyes while he takes a sip himself. only is this low bc I think hed choke on that sip if you didnt back down and that would be very amusing.
5. jongho. would sigh and make a point of wiping the opening with his sleeve both before and after you get the sip. it would be hot, so it wouldnt bother you.
6. san. would let you do it, would either be smirky and chill about it (if tipsy) or either pout the entire time you take the sip (if drunk). if the latter, you'd honestly be doing him favour that man has no tolerance.
7. wooyoung. he would take a sip, with eyecontact, before giving it to you. he'd hold your gaze while you took yours.
8. seonghwa. would smile and give the entire bottle. would stay with you while you finished it. the conversation you have while watching the sun go up might change your life. or hed tell you about Taylor Swift and star wars but he would be very pretty while doing it
hey everyone i am back to curse you all with my knowledge of korean after wanteez 45 because this made me feel insane:
1. "라면 먹고 갈래?"
is basically the equivalent of "do you want to come to my place?" ie "do you want to come in for a drink?" with the explicit implication of getting physical. yunho says "같이 라면 먹을래?" which adds the word "together" but otherwise essentially means the exact same so i am counting it especially because he followed it with:
2. "같이 비빌래요?"
"비비다" does mean "to mix" but specifically means to rub two things together; i would translate it as "to rub" before "to mix" in most contexts or maybe even "to grind" (as in, gears and what not. you get the idea. two objects are moving against each other with some force applied). when you mix sauce with noodles like joong was here you usually use the verb "섞다" so "비비다" was felt like a very purposeful choice, he basically asked hongjoong if he'd like to "rub together". that + the little hip movement he did afterwards? tl;dr he's asking hongjoong to have sex with him and not even being discrete about it thank you for coming to my lecture
Yunho, our Goldilocks egg yolk. Not too high, not too low, not too bright or too dark. His voice as he typically uses it, is very...medium. That’s not a bad thing! It’s the reason his share of the vocal lines has been relatively high over the years. In his “mix” voice he sounds a bit similar to Jongho, at lower ranges he can be confused with San, Seonghwa or even Yeosang.
Here are the differentiations. He is not as bright as Jongho, but is lighter in tone than San, Seonghwa and Yeosang. His typical tone is quite delicate, similar to Wooyoung’s, though not quite as light. Hear him on the “Light” chorus. As he’s the only one of the lower-voiced members with that quality, his voice is fairly identifiable.
All this being said, as with many things about this enigma of a man, the first impressions of his voice are deceiving! Behind his unassuming, “just an ensemble member” affects, is a true vocal powerhouse. This guy can sing! I’m so glad we finally got to hear him on Lee Mujin Service [link], because it is proof of things I’ve long suspected/known he was capable of, presented in a full song! Behold, an extremely strong live vocalist. I would go so far as to say he is perhaps the most stable live singer out of all the members. Alongside that we have vocal versatility ranging from a beautiful, delicate falsetto, to the soulful, rich mid-range we heard in “Burn the House Down”, to a deep, dark, somewhat threatening low register. FACT TIME: Did you know that the famous DUNE chorus is Yeosang AND Yunho? (YES I know what Color Coded Lyrics says. They are wrong and this is not the only time they have been, be careful how much you trust them. In the chorus, the first line 뭘 위해 아파야 하는 건가 / 수많은 사람 중 나인가 Why? is indeed Yeosang, but the second line 누구를 탓해야 하는 건가 / 여전히 들리는 Keep your head down is none other than Jeong Yunho (you might have to listen closely with good headphones to hear the difference) For another example of the depths of Yunho, see him growling on the intro to Nillili Mambo (around 30 secs in). Any time you hear a weird, possibly scary, low ad lib and/or harmony in ATEEZ’s music, there’s a solid chance this mf is lurking there.
In conclusion, Jeong Yunho continues to be nothing but a menace and his apparent neutrality is partly for our protection. Maybe we should be praying to Yunho’s god that it stays that way jk I am waiting with bated breath for the day he goes fully gloves-off

Seonghwa
Baritone
Key words: emotional, dark, heavy, versatile
So of course I am biased, and I did bias him initially for reasons unrelated to his singing voice (though not the ones you might think). But it’s been a very happy coincidence to discover he has a beautifoul singing voice to boot. One of the lowest voices in ATEEZ, his voice is characterized by being extremely heavy and dark. Though not as dark as Yeosang, his voice is heavier and fuller to Yeosang’s lighter, softer voice. Seonghwa’s voice is quite distinctive. He really chews his words, notably the “luh” consonants. Note how he drops his jaw and juts his lips out. This gives him a really dark tone. Contrast it with someone Wooyoung or Yunho, who pronounce things much closer to the front of their mouths.
Like San and Jongho, Seonghwa’s voice carries a lot of emotionality. He will let his voice crack intentionally, for example on the “Deja Vu” and “Answer” prechoruses. He has a similar whiny, yodel-y quality to San as can be heard in “Blind” for example, the difference being the level of depth and weight to his voice compared to San’s.
And then there’s his falsetto! The siren of ATEEZ. I find it so unfair that someone with such a rich lower register can also sound like that when they want to! As in that “Answer” prechorus, the iconic “Utopia” chorus, or in “Take Me Home”. That falsetto into the belt in Take me Home? UGH. My Seonghwa!

Yeosang, our lovely bass singer! It's always a great day to bias him. The lowest-voiced of the main vocal line, though I think Yunho and Seonghwa’s lowest stretch notes rival his. Yeo’s voice is characterized by its extremely dark tone, its softness, and his trademark lisp. He swallows his vowels which contributes to the dark tone and likely some of his difficulty projecting. His voice is very soft, smooth, and sweet. It’s gorgeous, in my opinion. The other big giveaway that Yeosang is the one singing is of course that lisp which shows up on "s" and "th" consonants.
Yeosang's voice is gorgeous and has been a notable part of ATEEZ's sound from the beginning. However, it is not necessarily super versatile especially in the context of ATEEZ’s powerful discography and stagings. His voice is not as easily able to cut through heavy backing instrumentals, or be sustained through intense choreo. Recently, he's undergone a huge transformation in terms of his vocal training and maturity, and it's been exciting to see what he's been able to do with the confluence of that and the frequently-mentioned evolution of the production team's songwriting style. We've already gotten to see a huge leap in his audible presence among the group's recent records.
Notable vocal moments include of course the epic Legacy, and so, so many places on GH4!

The three main vocal-line members I consider to be on the higher end are Wooyoung, Jongho, and San (in order of where their relative range sits). They couldn’t be more different in terms of their voice qualities and their function in the ensemble!
Let’s get to it:
Wooyoung
High tenor/countertenor
Key words: light, delicate, youthful
The key feature of Wooyoung’s voice is its lightness. In a group loaded with deep, powerful voices, Wooyoung’s delicate voice can often be heard flitting and floating around up top. It has a youthful, cheeky quality that matches his personality, role in the group and dance style. Particularly in the earlier days of the group he was certainly one of the less-utilized voices. Explanations for this include both being fairly untrained, and lacking the desire and/or confidence to have a bigger vocal role (as he’s reported himself). His voice is also just a bit less versatile than some other members, and is often suited to being used a bit more sparingly, being peppered in intentionally to give a particular effect or mood—he’s always consistently gotten many “killing parts”. In more recent years he’s put a ton of work into his vocal training and his increased vocal power is very apparent, especially in live settings. This coincided with a leveling-up in the complexity and sophistication of the songwriting and production to more more deftly incorporate all of the wide-ranging colors of ATEEZ’s vocal talent, such that his relative share of lines has increased, and he can now also easily carry solo tracks by himself.
Notable vocal moments: Sagittarius, the intro to Silver Light (풀어버려 너를 감은 chain;짓누르던 너의 모든 pain) - note the contrast between this and Yeosang's lines that immediately follow, “Wake Up” - “Do you wanna know”. His voice is also really suited to any and all ballads.

Jongho

Key words: bright, powerful, virtuoso, expressive
What is there to say? It’s Jong Ho. The Voice of ATEEZ, and indeed one of the voices of K-pop in general. I can’t say for absolute randos (apart from YouTube react-baiters), but at least of casual K-pop fans, if they know any ATEEZ members, they know Jongho. For my part, when I was first starting to come across ATEEZ music before making an active choice to stan, I knew him as the “guy who goes Whoa” (notably in the Utopia meme, and as I would soon come to realize, in much of the rest of their discography as well.
His voice is bright, high and punchy, but has an underlying warmth that really shines through in the mid-low range. It’s incredibly expressive and capable of both power and being quiet and delicate.
His voice has since the beginning been the most powerful, developed and mature-sounding, aside from perhaps San, and they took advantage of this. Especially in the early days he was carrying a very heavy load of the vocal material, perhaps more than even he was ready for. He has always been a very strong vocalist, but is no exception to the ATEEZ rule of having undergone a ton of improvement in training and overall maturation of his sound over their years of existence. In part owing to simply growing up (simultaneously to working hard training)—as I’ve mentioned elsewhere, 18 is incredibly young for a singer and it’s extremely normal for voices to not finish settling into their mature ranges until a person’s mid-to-late twenties and even beyond.
In the past few years especially, it’s been so amazing to witness this process in him, perhaps most importantly the revelation of an exceptionally gorgeous mid-to-low range. What a contrast to his stereotypical high, punchy belt range! This part of his voice is warm, mellow and expressive. It just wraps around you like a hug. We’ve been lucky to hear this in many of his solo ballads. My favorite recent example was his performance at the 2026 Golden Disc awards: listen if you haven’t already.
This is important because as for his role in the group, Jongho has been in a somewhat odd position lately. For a long time he was inherently set apart from the other members in terms of raw vocal ability and power. As the other members have continued to receive training and develop their sounds, that gulf has gotten narrower and he’s gotten a run for his money from members like San, Seonghwa and Yunho, whose voices are all versatile enough to carry much of the lines. In terms of stability live they rival and may even beat Jongho in some cases when it comes to ATEEZ’s typical style of song.
So how will Jongho continue to set himself apart? I think by experimenting with the full palette of vocal tones he’s capable of, and finding ways to showcase his virtuosity, which is still exceptional with the group.
I actually wrote the above line before the release of Golden Hour: Part.4 and I was over the moon to hear what they did with him this album, and specifically one line: his line in the opening verse of “Adrenaline”. Illustration of how I felt when I first heard that line:

Vocal showcase: where to begin? But any and all of his solo ballads are quintessential and if you haven't given them a listen, go fix that right now! They're all wonderful but my favorites include A Day and Our Memories with Kwon SoonKwan

San
Tenor or high baritone
Key words: powerful, strong live singer, warm, emotional
We Atiny are truly spoiled for vocal talent, it’s a bit ridiculous. The Choi Brothers are not to be trifled with.
This is San, ATEEZ’s official Lead Vocalist, deservedly. Now, I’ve had a bit of indecision as far as where to put him in the range of voices. In terms of actual vocal range he may be more of a baritone, especially as he’s gotten older he’s gained access to a lower register. But for the sake of making the categories even and in light of what I’ve observed to be his functional role in the group, especially in comparison to some other members, I am choosing to place him among the higher-voiced members.
He has a ton of power and is a very strong live vocalist. His voice is warm and expressive, with a bit of a whine to it, to the point it can sound like he’s constantly on the verge of crying (that is a compliment! I love his voice). Fitting for our sensitive guy Sannie. He has been a staple vocalist since the very beginning, and his voice has continued to mature and improve to this day (in step with his physical appearance :)). He now has access to a rich lower register that he’s been making use of throughout much of their recent discography.
His voice can sometimes be confused with Jongho’s, but Jongho’s has a much brighter tone to it, and lacks the aforementioned whine. He’s a bit similar to Seonghwa as well, but Seonghwa’s voice is notably darker and heavier in tone and he swallows notes in a way San does not.
I adore San's lovely voice and would love to hear him undertake more solo work as I think he's more than ready for it!
Vocal moments: This Utopia stage. The whole thing. But especially the end of the bridge around 2:53! That vibrato into the growl! Ugh. Also just so, so many Logbooks! That boy is always somewhere in the background belting out some song or another.
Coming soon: The low voices Yunho, Seonghwa and Yeosang
I'm pleased to say that Atiny once again have it so good with this group. The bar for K-pop rappers may not be particularly high, but from my perspective, Hongjoong and Mingi are both super solid in terms of both their technical skill and artistry. Their styles are so different and yet complement each other and the music so well. As we'll see, neither of them are to be overlooked as singers either! These two have probably the most distinctive sounds of anyone in ATEEZ and as such play a huge role in distinguishing ATEEZ's sound as a whole.
Hongjoong
Countertenor
Key words: full, bright, friendly, playful, nasal
O captain, my captain, the Trickster God of ATEEZ. His voice is hard to miss. One of the highest voices in ATEEZ, Hongjoong's singing voice is high, bright and has a nasal twang that's impossible to mistake. It's extremely punchy, and sounds friendly and mischievous. He actually has a remarkably similar tone quality to Jongho, and can easily hit the same high notes. Jongho's edge is in his raw power, and that warmth in lower registers that Hongjoong doesn't really have. Hongjoong's voice can still easily cut through instrumentals and other vocals. His voice is significantly fuller and punchier than Wooyoung's light and airy sound.
His rap style is lightning fast (the bane of the SUPERSTAR ATEEZ player's existence) and carries the same trickster-like energy of his singing voice. A certified member of the Demon Line (though I'd argue at this point they're all demons tbh), if you only ever listened to their music and watched performance videos, you might never guess that this guy is in real life a two (2) apples tall squirrel who doesn't eat vegetables. I'd join his revolutionary forces.
Favorite showcases of his voice/rapping/musical talent: This cover of Numb (he channels Chester SO well I'm obsessed. I need MORE). His verse on SMB w/Odetari (has YOUR fave publicly told the CEO of a major K-pop label to go fuck himself?). This rendition of Bouncy where he effortlessly nails Jongho's high notes.
Don't be fooled. Mingi is an amazing vocalist. The true lowest voice of ATEEZ, even if he's not a primary singer. His sound is just so essential to ATEEZ. He has a raw, edgy, rock-vocalist growl. His rapping style is booming, intense, intimidating--such a great complement to Hongjoong. Rap line unit song when?! Can I just say I'm so fascinated by Mingi as an artist? I have never wanted to learn Korean more than I have just to be able to understand his verses, which I hear are just something else. Now that I've had more opportunity to listen closely while looking at the lyrics, I'm even more intrigued. I'm certain the translations hardly do justice to his writing, but from the rough impressions I'm getting, I sense he really just pours his everything into his verses. Everything feels so intensely personal and raw, and he digs into some really deep places philosophically.
That's extremely fitting with not only his off-stage presentation, but his role in their discography as well. As a singer, like I said, he's such a great vocalist, with a surprisingly versatile voice. He can of course be powerful and intimidating as in Autobahn or Roar. But I've come to realize that the rawness and apparent lack of polish to his voice lends it the emotional effect of being extremely sincere and honest. The songwriting team uses this! When they want to give an impression of pure raw honesty, Mingi's voice is a go-to. Prime examples of this include the bridge of Be With You, his opening lines in Star 1117, and everything about Youth. Also see his collab Hit Me Up with Mirani.
Interestingly, though his speaking and rapping voice is famously deep, I've come to realize his comfortable range when singing actually sits a bit higher? Even on his solo projects like Tunnel, the notes are pretty much all in a range that even I (mezzo-soprano) can easily access. He definitely has those basement notes (as we can hear in that cover of Nillili Mambo I referenced for Yunho) but he can easily belt in that higher range as well. I think he's just got a really big range! Like I said, he is really not to be underestimated as a singer. Now I want to hear him cover some System of a Down, I think he would kill it.
Other must-listens: all Fix Off projects. He is also, like San, all over their logbooks singing whatever pops in his head at a given moment (though there's like a 50% chance it will be his perennial fave, YB's A Flying Butterfly [fair enough. that song bangs.])

i just think it's very interesting that seonghwa, when talking about fashion, has talked a lot about how he feels able to express parts of himself that he cannot do in other ways, especially when he is able to not limit himself within fashion; how 'gendered' fashion limits him; how he's said that he can "express and showcase another completely different side of myself that fully embraces and captures my personal story" through fashion, especially when he has control over how to express himself regardless of norms
and then i think it's very interesting that he talks about "skin" this way a lot, too, about how he can express and showcase different sides of himself through his art; how he sometimes feels like there is a "skin" he needs to shed in order to become his full and authentic self
and then i think it's very interesting that, when talking about his songwriting process of "skin", seonghwa has mentioned several times that hongjoong just sort of understood where he was going with what he did, and that hongjoong's input in his creative process came from a part of deep understanding for seonghwa and what he needed to express
and THEN i think it's very interesting that, in hongjoong's fashion design journey, seonghwa has been so adamant about being his next model; that seonghwa, to whom clothes are so much a part of his personal expression and journey to conveying who he really is, is adamant about hongjoong making him clothing, in the same way that hongjoong helped make a song that was deeply coded in expressing who he was in the same way fashion does--
