The Summer Solstice

Nox Inferno is a time to remember the struggles and sorrows you have had up to this point of the year. It’s a time to reflect and strategize for any upcoming work or projects. Later in the evening is also a time to relinquish your burdens and make merry with friends and loved ones, whilst symbolically sacrificing hardship to the flame. This is the time to find inspiration. Azazel, the fiery goat god, is a perfect symbol for this holiday.

For centuries, mainstream religions have condemned simple pleasures that humankind naturally enjoys. Indulgence and the pursuit of knowledge has been forbidden, and those that have dared to add some flavor to their lives have suffered horrible consequences. Throughout history, many innocent people have died, executed for simply for being human.

Of course, the sentence of execution would be delivered by the pleasure-fearing oppressors in a time where any act not seen as holy was a risk of burning, hanging, or other gruesome fates. Those that were afraid of their nature, in avoidance of hellfire, carried out the dishonorable acts of hypocrisy by sentencing their fellow man to die, more often than not while those in power did the same deeds! Is it not obvious that the human animal’s knack for pleasing themselves isn’t in a vacuum? How dull it would be to think that the individuals responsible for casting judgment would have a clear slate. They just happened to sin when no one was watching. The lucky ones, at least.

Unfortunately, great minds were burned, quite literally, simply for seeking knowledge. Philosophers, scientists, and medical practitioners that were invested in making life more tolerable and understanding human existence were deemed heretics, to suffer death by a swinging noose or a raging flame. Because of their murder, it can never truly be known how far behind we are in our scientific and societal development. But alas, the Age of Satan is upon us!

Satanists understand that there is no true dichotomy of good or evil. We know that there is no divine judgment after death. The only sort of scale that balances things out is death itself. Other than our own inevitable end, there is no evidence to support a life hereafter. While some may have the “luxury” to wear blinders to the fact, there is no hope (based in reality, at least) that our enemies will burn eternally while we enjoy heavenly bliss.

Instead of hoping for a paradise beyond, we look to the here and now. What can we achieve in our short lives? How can we make our existences mean something, if not to anyone else, than to ourselves? To ask such things would be considered blasphemy by mainstream religionists, but the Satanist understands that their opinion means nothing; especially when placed in baseless theories on life after death. Where they look to the end for their pleasure to begin, we make manifest of it, NOW!

For centuries, Satanism has inaccurately been equated to evil. Satan is the Adversary, the Opposer. Evidenced in how we, as Satanists, live for today rather than our deaths tomorrow, we mock the superstitious abstinence from earthly delight!

Satanism is indulgence! Indulgence of carnal pleasure, the pursuit of knowledge, and the indulgence of rational self-interest! We are the few, encapsulated by our own autonomy, that choose to live our epicurean existences with glee! Let the others live to abstain and die never knowing pleasure, for abstinence was all they sought in the first place. Let them bask in the irony that the pleasure they sought was only to be found in life, whilst they wasted their lives waiting to die!

If what we, as Satanists, enjoy is called sinful, so be it! If we fit the bill of what they describe as evil, so be it! We take pride in our diabolical self-interest! The sheep can continue to be shorn, but we will continue walking our crooked path of pleasure. The rest can be lost behind us.

While mainstream religionists pride themselves on being good, just, and charitable, we enjoy our beautiful wickedness. We have no disdain for our selfish natures as humans. Human beings are built to seek out the wonderful pleasures life has to offer. Why deprive ourselves of our instincts? Because a tyrannical god, supposedly responsible for our creation, deems his own work incompetent? The believers of this lie are the ones bathing in hypocritical self-deceit, not us.

We are honest about our love for life. We are honest about our natures as human beings. Let the abstainers take issue with it. Their jealousy will boil them out of their delusion! And if not, they have doomed themselves to live in their own masochistic circles of damnation.

“These holidays may be celebrated however the Satanist deems appropriate. We have added some suggestions of celebration, but obviously, how one acknowledges these special days are up to them. It is our hope that Satanists can use these holidays to build a rewarding practice throughout the year.”

Due to the spread of COVID-19, we are encouraging everyone to seek medical attention if they begin to experience symptoms of the virus.

For prevention, please wash your hands and make sure to keep them sanitized when out and about. We would also suggest disinfecting door knobs, faucets, and light switches in your own home. It might also be a good idea to disinfect your door handles and steering wheel on your vehicles.
