Ive submitted this or something similar enough on 3 (now 4) seperate ask games and it never gets chosen

Sometimes I've thought about going into detail on why I don't pick asks, but I usually decide against it due to sheer volume. Turnout was much lower this time (~90 asks, ~50 repeating AUs), so I'll take a crack at it.

I have several criteria for picking AUs, but you can quickly boil them down to "can I make an AU out of this" and "Do I want to make an AU out of this." This one runs into the former. There's basically no information on Nabu or Otheon because they're movie-original locations, and, unlike I-Island, don't have any real novelty to keep them interesting by virtue of basically just being, well, realish places as opposed to a fun new hightech wonderland. While I could probably work with that, I've already got enough work making up a whole country from scratch with Sarka.

Once I had a vampire problem. Vampires are hard to find, but you'll know when you have one due to the dead dwarves with bite marks that show up. Eventually I found out what happened: the very first vampire had fallen down a well and died thus tainting the fort's water supply with vampire blood. So the entire fortress was vampires. They fed on incoming migrants with the new members of the fort living or dying based on whether they drank from the well before one of the other vampires got to them.

Bubble goes rogue like Caine did; body glitching painfully and sizzling like his model is made from boiling water. Numerous mouths opening and covering his form, stretching further than the "skin" should allow, teeth sharper and deadlier and full of hate.

And Caine? He's been so careful to not reveal anything about himself, and he managed to do so. He's human in the eyes of everyone else. But… the actual humans are in danger, and this isn't like last time, he's not the one grasping onto the humans' bodies and slaming them into walls, no.

He's there, with them, on the ground and they're scared. They're looking up at Bubble's glitching form, horror in their eyes, and Caine knows deep down that this is it.

He can't let the same events happen again, he won't let Bubble make the same mistake he did.

He's going to have to intervene.

So he makes these jokes about calling himself hot, but this comment later makes it pretty clear they're just that-- jokes.

All this stuff he says about being an archetype, too. Guy resigned to his lot in life, pretends he loves it. We know the tune well!

Interesting that does his cheeky little motioning-to-his-own-body move from his "ain't I a hottie" jokes, by the way. Put a pin in that.

Anyways, he's insisting he's choosing to be who he is, right after referring to becoming "who he is" as "becoming part of the machine." He's lying again, about liking the way he is. Duh, right?

Exhibit A: The highly marketable maid outfit.

Canonically transgender character has some interesting comments about this. Comments that echo Jax's mysterious comments about Zooble from earlier.

Now, I'm not always the best at this, but the only connection I can think of between Zooble, bartenders, and tattoo artists, is that they're all..........kind of dykey? It's giving "two toxic homosexuals interact at atarbucks." But that might just be me.

Wow, Jax, making fun of your own romantic prospects on the basis of your gender in relation to the hypothetical romantic partner? Interesting choice! It would be a shame if it stopped being straight somehow.

Oops! I tripped, and Jax's very particular metaphor for having his deeper feelings and true desires revealed fell out of my pocket!

Anyways, I now draw your attention back to his particular word choice when he jokes at the expense of his own appearance:

I swear there was another instance of him joking about his appearance specifically in regards to masculinity but I can't remember where. You get my drift though.

He's not the pinnacle of masculinity, and he knows he's not, so he jokes about it-- because it's funny! It's funny that he's not a "real man!"

Being funny-- that's a type of guy you can be, even if everything about being a man doesn't appeal to you!

It's a role! A role he can fulfill! His role that he's stuck with, that he's given up on fighting. The funny one. Nothing else underneath the funny egshell, thank you very much!

There's just no use even thinking about changing who he is. That would just be depressing! And it's no good to anyone if the funny one can't be funny. If he can't fulfill his role. If he ever wants anything else, anything more genuine.

The third ask reads to me like he probably has some internalized misogyny. However, all of them have multiple possible explanations; these responses aren't definitive.

HOWEVER however, Goose has stated in a LOT of asks how she projects onto Jax and has stated she relates to him the most. This can easily include any struggles she's had/having with her gender identity.
