“Is that so?” Zelda chuckled “and if the price is to high, what then?”

Zelda raised her brow at the other, she considered the otherwomen a lot of things but friends was not exactly a word she would have everused. 

“Penelope dear, youhave not seen me angry yet and I have no interest in the material things you call good fortune.”

Of all the things Zelda expected when she arrived at Wardwell’s door, this was not it. Sabrina had warned her that her favourite teacher had found out about them and that she wasn’t happy but she also was distraught at so Zelda naturally wanted to fix the situation. However, Zelda had only prepared to be shouted at by the prissy teacher a bit then smooth talk her way into a calmer situation where she would see Sabrina is no different from the girl, she had taught all these years. This was clearly not the others intent but even with a gun in her face Zelda was not quite ready to give up.

“Ms Wardwell.” Zelda raised her arms slowly to show that she was not intending to harm the other and instead wanted to take things out, “I can see that you are clearly upset, of course it must be a shock, but I do not wish you harm, I am only here for Sabrina”.

Zelda could feel her whole-body tense with rage. She was under no false pretence that Faustus was the perfect gentlemen as she had known him practically her whole life, but they had a past together that she thought had earned more respect that what she had gotten. Just thinking of the things, she would put through without any say whatsoever, it made her feel physically sick.

“Mutiny?” Zelda screamed the word at the other before taking a second to breathe because she hated losing her temper, even when it was well aimed. “You really think that in all of this you were in the right? Faustus have you lost your damn mind? Nothing about what you did to me was mercy, you are a coward!”

   Luci wasn’t entirely sure if having Zelda Spellman know her secret was the best idea. She knew the woman was intelligent and powerful. Heaven, Luci was kind of scared of her. She knew that Zelda would act in either her best interest or the best interest of her family. Luci was not part of that family — just family adjacent through Sabrina. That didn’t necessarily put Luci in the best position. 

   ❝Are you positive that this is the right decision?❞ She, somewhat hesitantly, questioned the older woman. Perhaps it wasn’t the answer she had been looking for. 

Zelda could feel for the other of course, she wasn’t heartless but she had worked too hard to protect Sabrina over the years and right now she was dealing with so much change that this, news about having family she never knew, it could push her over the edge that she had been working so hard to keep her away from.

“I do not make decisions for you, of course, but I feel you have come to me for a reason and I can only give you my advice. Sabrina is strong to have been through what she has but she is still a child, learning how to cope with more than most people her age will ever have to. This information, it may not go down how you want it to, not yet anyway.”

Zelda had little patience for the girls outbursts, her day would come when she was old enough but now was Sabrina’s time and she had to work double time to make sure Sabrina knew the importance of signing into the church of night, she would lose so much if she didn’t and Zelda had so much hopes placed upon the girl. 

“Don’t play with your food” she began as she finally looked towards the other, she did not mean to be cruel but her energy was so low these days and the girl was just draining more of it. “You need to support Sabrina; it is her time now and she will be here to support you when you reach age”.

       harley could FEEL the emotions coming off of this woman in waves. it was funny. she usually found humans so much easier to read, but something about the witches of greendale, and the spellmans in particular…perhaps there was a kind of recognition there. she made a mental note to research how their families might have interacted over the centuries. she bit her lip. she knew that the older woman probably didn’t want to talk about it, but she had also been in sabrina’s shoes FAR TOO MANY TIMES, and it was clear the younger girl wasn’t about to share any time soon. 

       ❝ you know…when i was sixteen, i was sent to my last foster family: the smiths. they were by far the best foster parents i ever had. they were kind to me, provided for me, treated me no different than their biological daughter, and there were times when i was an absolute brat to them. ❞ here was where it got a bit personal. harley and sabrina may not have been exactly the same, but between her empathy and her experience, she could guess where the blonde was coming from. ❝ when YOU LOSE A LOT when you’re young…you try not to let yourself get too attached to anything, especially people, and when people start to act like they’re going to stick around for awhile… ❞ 

       a shrug. ❝ i’m not saying it’s not supposed to hurt. i’ve never been a parent. i can’t imagine it, but…i’m just trying to point out that she might be lashing out because she cares. just…show her you’re not going anywhere. i think THAT’LL HELP. she’s lucky. my aunts…well let’s just say they didn’t exactly step up for me after my parents died, in case the whole foster kid thing didn’t make that obvious. i didn’t even know they existed until pretty recently. she’s lucky to have you. if she doesn’t realize that, i won’t hesitate to give her a verbal smackdown. or a literal one, whatever. ❞

Zelda almost cut the other off the moment she opened her moth to interject but she was tired and was not in the mood to put up a fight right now, so, she let her go on. Her mind was in such a fragile state whenever it came to Sabrina as she always tried to make life easier for the girl due to her losing her parents at an early age. This made what the other had to say so much harder to swallow. She understood the parallel between them and knew deep down that Sabrina would always have love for her but to hear it was different. It took Zelda a moment to compose herself before replying to the younger of the two as she refused to show just how vulnerable she felt in that moment. 

“Thank you, Harley” she got out in a shaky breath before turning back to the door as if she was going to leave. Her mind may have been a mess in the current moment but Zelda would always be a gracious hostess to those who deserved it. 

“would you like to come in?” Zelda asked, back still to the other as she opened the door and breathed deeply before turned around to face Harley again with a smile and a gesture towards her home, “I think I could use some tea!”
