I’ll never forget the first time I saw this. This wasn’t some fan made animation or obscure clip from a deleted scene. No no. Straight out of the opening sequence. I was actually shocked. If this didn’t establish Sasuke as a Sexual Object in the sense where it was heavily hinted at that he’d suffered abuse by Orochimaru, I don’t know what did. Out of all the male characters, Sasuke was definitely the most sexualised. Considering how old they were at this time, it made me extremely uncomfortable. Yes, Sasuke is established as a physically attractive character, but the abuse hinted at was never properly resolved, or even mentioned. In my view, yet another reason as to why his need for “atonement” is a complete insult to his trauma. Sasuke deserved so much better.
