I had the chance to illustrate for a really exciting Star Wars/Three Musketeers fusion fic by Grey Bard, and even though I only completed one (1) picture, I’m really excited to show it to you. For now, here’s some closeup details and a behind-the scenes  look at the design process for Rey’s musketeer tabard and Poe’s doublet (as worn by Finn, of course.)

For the musketeer uniforms, I wanted to avoid the traditional “cross fleury” because this AU had Force magic, Sith, and presumably, a Force religion, so a cross felt out of place. But while Star Wars actually has a lot of great iconography, I couldn’t use it as-is without looking anachronistic. So I made a whole set of doodles! The last three are official Star Wars emblems. Everything else is an attempt to imitate either the look or the core idea of one of the other emblems.

Meanwhile, Grey Bard described Finn’s prized jacket as a “tan doublet of archaic cut” but I also wanted to bring in some of the red tones from the iconic jacket, hence the contrasting sleeves. 

Overall, the clothes were more handwaving than careful historical accuracy, especially since I didn’t have good period reference, just a lot of (really excellent) Belle Époque-era illustrations. Seriously. I’m a Leloir fangirl now.

Hello friends, I’m participating in the Fandom Loves Puerto Rico Charity Auction!

I am offering up 2 commissions for digitally-retouched pencil drawings with up to 3 figures or other prominent elements on a simple background. Bids start at $20 for flat color, simple shading, or simple effects like the top five images. But! If bidding goes over $60 I’ll offer an upgrade to f u l l  c o l o r like the image below. I can do full figures, faces, hands, feet, animals, architecture. I won’t do non-con or hardcore smut (I wouldn’t be good at it anyway), and I have a few other limitations that I list on my offer.

I don’t usually offer commissions, and due to my relative obscurity, I’m not expecting a bidding war, so this is your chance to nab some art for a GREAT price!
