Procrastinating Artists Anonymous

Hello my name is Sariah Pariah and i have been procrastinating artist for about as long as I've been drawing and digitally creating artwork.

I was 14 or 15 years old when I first started posting my art on the internet and now I'm 26 years old and I still haven't made a my goal of creating a full time career of being an artist. Even though I know that I worked really hard to get where I am now. But I know it's because I'm a procrastinator and I have a lot of anxiety when it comes to my artwork which hinders me to pushing myself out of my comfort zone and really try hard to make my goal my reality.

I have noticed other artists like myself are kind of on and off again when it comes to creating and posting art. I wonder what is the solution to our problem of procrastinating?

From what i have seen all of the other popular artists or the well-known artists have suggested to constantly constantly post and create art. They say 'just do it!!' To beat that procrastination right out of your soul by forcing yourself to create more and more artwork.

It sounds so simple yet it's really hard. So I'd like to know how other procrastinating artist like me feel about their own procrastinating ways.

What art goals have you been procrastinating? Is it creating a comic series or wanting to become an animator, makeing art your full time job or even getting started/ getting better at creating the art you want to do? Are the inspirational quotes that other artist put out not working anymore. you feel very snippy and cold towards the "just do it"?

I think we all procrastinate for a reason it's not just because we're lazy. It's mainly about avoiding our goals because there's this underlining negative emotion like fear, frustration or sadness. We are trying to avoid the likelihood of no recognition, feeling like a failure, feeling like that goal is out of reach because of the hard work that lies ahead, or sacrificing our comforts while trying to conqure fears to reach our goals.
