Thinking about Kate Sharma's preferred type of tea
The world building in Bridgerton is so bad and unsatisfactory. And because of that I've often found myself wondering about how Kate is doing and does she get to drink the kind of tea she likes?
I really like that line about Kate hating English tea because honestly who doesn't. But now that she's married for love and her husband wants his child to get to know Indian culture shouldn't we see at least some Indian influences on the Bridgerton household?
Do you think Anthony and Benedict will learn their wives languages? Do you think the cooks in the Bridgerton household are taught how to make Indian and Korean cuisine? Do you think they will incorporate India and Korean traditions? Do you think Kate is Hindu? Do you think England in Bridgerton has non Christian places of worship?
I do like the intention behind the changes in Bridgerton. But they are so half assed. And the reality is the world of Bridgerton would look drastically different if racism ended 30-40 years ago.
Because ending racism would affect politics and culture and societal norms and fashion and traditions. You cannot have the sensibilities and aesthetic of regency era if racism ended decades ago.
The solution to this would be have the show take place in a different world in a country similar to London but not London. Which isn't possible now.
I get it. They wanted to eat their cake and have it too. No racism but yes regency era. So they can at the very least make some changes moving forward.
At the very least they should let Kate drink the kind of tea she likes.
This fic is the closest I've ever come to seeing this in the Bridgerton fandom and I love it dearly: the way to a man's heart by wetheresponsible
