Color symbolism in Dead Boy Detectives:

GREEN

Green represents emotional stability, as defined by Niko in the Case of the Lighthouse Leapers.

The sea glass she gives to Tragic Mick is green.

Niko wears green during the episode when she rejoins the world after having been a shut-in. She stays home out of deference to her own traumatic experience, to give herself a night of self-care.

Green is the color of Edwin's sweater on the day he intends to confess to Charles.

In episode one, when Jenny talks to Crystal in the alleyway, starting her on the path to emotional stability and the resolution of her character arc, the background lighting is all in green.

When Charles talks to Crystal after she tells the sprites to take her because no one will miss her anyway, they're both lit in green as he tries to reassure her.

The lighting is also green in the early scenes of the show, with the boys working together before Crystal arrives to shake things up. The boxing scene is lit in green, and so are their meetings with their early clients. Even the scene on the subway, where they're handling what they think is a standard case, is lit in green to show that they're comfortable with something that they've done a thousand times before.

What do you remember from the process of shooting Colin and Penelope’s wedding?

"I know it sounds silly, but in this show, [the weddings] feel real, in a way. It’s not like I felt like I was really getting married, but it did feel like a big occasion, and I was like, “I don’t want Luke to see me in my dress before I go down the aisle,” which was so silly, but I wanted to get his first reaction. [Laughs.]"
