Rainy Tokyo.Â
One of my favorite experiences in Japan thus far. We followed this road to Kawaguchi Asama Shrine, nestled among beautiful tall trees at the base of Mt. Fuji. The sun was starting to set and there were only a handful of other travelers on the grounds. We walked around and took in the weight of the ancient trees with rope around their bellies, the quiet bubbling of the river in the background and the looming torii gate at the entrance. By just existing in the space you could understand why this site was chosen to house a shrine. Nature & spirituality peacefully coexist in this corner of the world.

Photo Diary from Sapporo. We traveled to Hokkaido in northern Japan for their annual snow festival a couple months ago. Weird to think how time has changed my relationship with the people in these photos.Â

Kobe, Japan // 2.27.18
Took a day trip into Kobe and right before the sun set it started to rain so we decided to head back home. On our way back I was captivated by the text and facade of the Shin-Kobe station at the base of the mountains and grabbed a photo before running to catch my train.
A Girl Abroad: Welcome To Japan
“Waking up every morning on this side of the globe and experiencing the culture of modern Japan that is so firmly entwined with its history is an incredibly humbling experience, and the more I learn the clearer I see the historical continuity that marks Japan’s present state.” This evening on ‪#‎THESTYLELINE‬ our A Girl Abroad contributor Sarah Ratner returns to share her experiences in Japan…Â

Some snapshots from this past week in my new home.
It’s fitting that the prevailing pop of color in all the images mirrors the Japanese flag.Â
