This kind of cultivated selfishness is a rot upon our culture. If you only care about others to make yourself look good or when it’s convenient you’re self absorbed and do not actually care about others. It’s antisocial behavior. Full stop. One persons struggle isn’t lesser than another’s and to treat it as such is transactional and ultimately degrading.
