If we truly "owe" something to our ancestors, it’s not the blind continuation of our bloodline it’s the preservation and improvement of the world they fought to create. Your ancestors endured hardship not just so you could exist, but so that future generations could live better lives than they did. That means making thoughtful, ethical choices about bringing new life into the world.
Having children you cannot properly care for emotionally, financially, or socially is a far greater betrayal than choosing not to reproduce. It condemns your descendants to the same cycles of struggle your ancestors worked so hard to escape.
And if civilization is worth preserving, it’s preserved by contributing meaningfully through art, science, teaching, compassion, innovation not by treating reproduction as an obligation divorced from love, readiness, or stability. A life dedicated to building, healing, and inspiring others is not “pathetic and pointless,” even if it doesn’t include having children. In fact, such a life might be a far more honorable repayment of ancestral sacrifice than simply producing more humans without regard for their future.
I hate this dude 😐
So...becuase some male raped my great-great grandmother and she couldn't access an abortion, I owe it to her rapist to 'continue his bloodline'...
No, thanks. I'm all good.
Dworkin talks about exactly this kind of male ego tantrum in Right Wing Women. A woman getting an abortion or choosing not to have kids means that his mother could have aborted him or chosen not to have him if she’d had a free choice about it, and that makes him maaaaaad.
i have zero empathy for little boys being misogynists. i was a kid too, but my focus was towards drawing and reading, not hating on minorities.
“they’re children!” so are the girls they terrorise
I have started calling it "monkey see monkey do misogyny" not because these little shits aren't a danger to other children but because I'm so sick of people reacting like "he's too young to truly MEAN it" and I don't care because I'm not worried about his immortal soul or whatever. I care about the girls who have to hear the exact same words in the exact same order as a grown man who hates them, in class. And then be expected to concentrate on long division.
"As my mother once said: The boys throw stones at the frogs in jest.
But the frogs die in earnest."

hey guys maybe…. maybe gatekeeping identities is utterly stupid….. and maybe…. just maybe…. this is just a thought btw…. you should respect people for who they say they are…. maybe it’s actually not your business…
Telling lesbians to take dick is a hell of a lot more disrespectful than telling someone who has a dick or likes dick that they’re not a lesbian bye
Interesting how “gatekeeping identities” didn’t become an issue until y’all started making up “genders” and sexualities and appropriating terms that didn’t apply to you.
all terms are made up! hope this helps
also sometimes labels overlap and no human fits neatly in a box ever. a lesbian who likes dick is still a lesbian because a dick is not inherent to being a man/man adjacent. thoughts and prayers guys
A lesbian who "likes dick" is not a lesbian. A lesbian is a female who experiences attraction to other females. Accept being bisexual and move on.
“All terms are made up” yeah but they’re made up to refer to specific things. The word “tree” is made up but it still has a meaning; You’d look at me weird if I referred to a tomato plant as a tree.
“Lesbian” is the same way. It, like all words, is made up, but it was created to refer to homosexual women.
Sure, maybe it’s not my business if someone wants to call themselves a Pansexual Ace Lesboy, but I don’t think anyone necessarily needs to “respect their identity”, either, when it’s clearly a nonsense word salad that doesn’t have any actual meaning.
It’s not “gatekeeping” to say that a lesbian is a woman who likes women and only women, it’s just…being correct. Are you going to accuse Merriam-Webster of gatekeeping because they won’t agree to say that the word “cat” can also include alligators?
The trans movement: black women are seen as men/male adjacent 1.Enslaved black women were wet nurses to white babes (side note: do people know how hungry and drained breastfeeding makes you? A child is literally sucking the calories out of you on top of the fact that your body has to exert energy making the milk) 2.Were repeatedly raped and impregnated against their will to give birth to more slaves- aka their female reproductive labor specifically exploited and pimped to directly financially profit slave masters. 3.Were raped and used as sex toys by both black men and white slave masters. 4.Were forced to do traditionally feminine roles like childcare, cooking, cleaning IN ADDITON to all the back- breaking, hard labor the men had to do. 5.In the founding of gynecology- enslaved black women had their guts cut open and wombs and uteri taken out and experimented on. Had their breasts, vaginas and buttocks, all sex organs, pickled in jars and shown in museums. In other words, our female ancestors experienced the absolute worst assaults on their SEXED bodies. Experienced horrors and mechanisms of torture designed for and exclusive to THE FEMALE SEX. And you people let transfemmes say we're seen as males. Unchecked. I'll never forgive or forget this. I'll never forgive. I'll never forget.
“The rape and exploitation of enslaved black women was not just rampant, it was endemic. The writings of former slaves such Harriet Jacobs, as well those of sympathetic white women like abolitionist Sarah Grimke, paint a picture of black girls in their early teens getting routinely bribed with presents and "favors," such as promises of better treatment, for agreeing to sex with white plantation workers or relatives of the owner. Resistance was met with punishment by way of a whipping. "When he make me follow him into de bush, what use me to tell him no? He have strength to make me," one enslaved woman is quoted in the book Intimate Matters: A History of Sexuality in America. Such testimony led the authors to conclude that the rape of female slaves was likely the most common form of interracial sex. The dehumanisation and hypersexualization of black women was so systematic it was woven into the very fabric of society: their optimal breeding times were the topic of dinner conversations, and they were sold at market in little to no clothing as potential buyers prodded and poked their frequently pregnant bodies to assess their "breeding" potential. Often forced to dress in rags, with legs, arms, and sometimes chest showing, they provided a deliberately marked contrast to the fully and heavily clothed white women, which, as Bell Hooks has noted, both reinforced their supposed innate lack of chastity and morality and exposed them to yet more abuse: "the nakedness of the female slave served as a constant reminder of her sexual vulnerability."
We cannot put a number on how many black girls and women were sexually abused, but we do know that such abuse was the defining feature of their enslavement, prompting Jacobs to proclaim, "Slavery is terrible for men, but it is far more terrible for women." The abuse of black women served at least three functions: it terrorized the black population in order to reinforce white domination, it provided a source of continuous labor, and it was a sexual outlet that white men took advantage of in order to maintain the illusion of the moral superiority of white society in an era of supposed sexual chastity.”

Ultimately, men don’t rape unless they’re certain they’re going to get away with it, it only looks like mindless and random impulse because our society is so structured to let men get away with it. Men rape more when they know women can’t escape or speak up or punish them, and less when they can. Areas, cultures and situations where men rape less or more than other situations are not because of an innate personality, temperament or cultural enlightenment, it is because of differing opportunities and repercussions, which are all caused by a large variety of factors. You can argue that the impulse to rape and take advantage of these opportunities and the desire to perpetuate societies and socialisation that supports rape is genetic, but men’s raping is not mindless acting on genes. Likewise, you can argue some societies are structured differently that allow for an environment of more or less rape but ultimately every culture exists by perpetuating the rape of women and take any man from any culture and give him an opportunity like war and he will behave the same way.
This is why discussion of socialisation and the structure of our societies is more important to preventing rape than comparing different cultures or genes.
Reminds me of some bits from Lundy Bancroft’s Why Does He Do That. He asks victims of abuse 2 questions that illuminate the same falsehood of no self control.
1) Does the abusive man blow up to his friends? His parents? Other family (outside of nuclear family)? His boss? People important for his career? If not, his anger is clearly controllable. He is not ruled by his impulses or feelings like he may claim to the abused woman.
2) When he flies into an abusive rage and destroys things, whose things does he destroy? His objects? The things he uses? Or does he destroy (almost exclusively) the woman’s things. This also demonstrates that when he APPEARS out of control, his anger/rage is controlled for his own interest.
Rapists do not rape indiscriminately, they rape when they feel that the conditions will protect them from consequences. They rape to harm women, put them in their place, and intimidate women as a class.
The narrative of men “out of control” and ruled by “impulse” is an attempt to hide the calculated cruelty of men, and of the prevalence of rape.
PLEASE DO YOURSELVES A SERVICE and watch Killing Us Softly 4 by Jean Kilbourne -- you have to watch it directly on youtube due to the content (nudity I guess) but it is absolutely crucial watching to understand what these images of women do to the social construction of what counts as normal and even aspirational, and what needs to be punished in order to create 'acceptable' women.
Kilbourne is really funny but you WILL be enraged

i hate the sentiment that female singers have no other choice but to wear lingerie onstage "express their sexuality" to get ahead in the industry because i cant help but compare it to female musicians of the 90s. like jagged little pill by alanis morissette was one of the biggest albums of the 90s and this is how she dressed while preforming it.
or tori amos, tracy chapman, fiona apple, sinead o' connor, whitney houston, and courtney love... like im not saying theyre not sexy im not anti-being sexy. but they wear reasonable comfortable clothing and focus on their music. and they have lasting fanbases and some are still touring today.
