We Survivors of Authoritarianism Have a Message America Needs to Hear: This is Exactly How it Happens, and Itās Happening Here.
Smart followers, Iām requesting your thoughts- Is Ā there a single instance of āburn it all downā that has been successfully leveraged to build a better country? A lot of people seem to think that if things get bad enough, people here will reach a breaking point and that will somehow create a revolution that will usher in a utopia. Iāve been researching Ā for years and canāt find a recent example. Am I missing something?
My family had to flee Iran during the Revolution. A lot of people wanted to oust the Shah and thought that they could build something better from the ground up once he was gone. Itās been 40 years and the entire country is essentially being held hostage Ā because the authoritarian party they voted in removed all checks and Ā balances, laws, accountability, etc. My family and I have been seeing so many parallels since trump emerged in 2015, but no one is listening to us.
This is, in all sincerity, the most important article any American citizen could read.

This is putting into words what Iāve been kept up by every night but unable so express, this is exactly what Iāve been feeling when I see my motherās stories of the Nicaraguan revolution playing out in the very city Iām living in. This sounds dramatic, but it is not.
But the most important thing here, the most ominous factor, is that our borders are closed. My family and I have always kept the mindset of āif it gets bad enough, weāll flee.ā Thatās how my ancestors have survived. Thatās how they taught me to survive. Thatās no longer an option for any of us. We are living at the edge of a dictatorship, and that dictator has already eliminated our escape routes.
