you think you can pass IB by studying? hi, we're called TOK and CAS and you know nothing
a poster in my school library
To all people with health problems doing exams
Ok so you know how you always worry about getting sick in the middle of an exam?
I got taken away by ambulance part way through my second GCSE exam last year and you know what? It turned out absolutely fine
The school could see I was very ill and unable to complete the exam so they filled out some sort of application to have my final grade for that exam be based on the other 3 exams for that subject that I did manage to do
I missed several other exams because of my health and the same thing happened with those too (the rule was you had to do at least 50% of coursework and exams total for this to apply but I managed that
So exam season might be stressful but try not to worry about this too - you can’t control your health and it’ll all turn out ok!
!!!!! this is so important
i missed a GCSE (chem paper 1) due to health problems and got an A overall because of my coursework and other papers
remember YOUR HEALTH IS SO IMPORTANT and everything will turn out okay ✨✨✨
#maysc day 1: describe where you want to be right now, academically or otherwise
no photos today bc my phone is…… somewhere, possibly in the car outside, this is from my computer
academically: i want to be not procrastinating, ideally getting full marks or 7s at the very least in everything bc i’m a perfectionist, in a position to ace my tok presentation, just generally more motivated
i have 0 words for my extended essay and nearly nothing for my tok presentation and i’m in massive trouble if i don’t get my act together (physical/mental health has been kicking my arse but teachers don’t view that as an excuse) so getting those done would be good
health-wise: better mental health, better physical health i.e. being able to walk without agony, being more positive about my health (though it’s hard to find the good things in a debilitating chronic illness, i should try)
otherwise: just happier in general tbh
hopefully i’ll be able to do photos tomorrow

How To Get A Job Fast As Hell
@owenabbott
Apply to a job, wait (1) day, then call. Give them your first and last name. Tell them you submitted an application and that you’re very motivated to find [Enter field name] work. Let the conversation lead you wherever it takes. Be very polite. Say” thank you for your time, I’ll be looking forward to hearing back from you.” Rinse, repeat. This is to force them to be looking out for your application.
When you get to the interview, shake their hand firmly, tell them your first and last name.
Describe your experiences as “ two years transcription and data entry” if you have a desk job interview and “ [however many years] costumer service, retail and stock” for your retail jobs.
Don’t use job “ buzz words” I stg they hear them all day. Say things like, “ I’m detail oriented and am very good at taking instruction.” “ I would like to work for a company with integrity and I feel that [ company name] would be a good fit”
When they ask you if you have “reliable transportation” say YES. don’t tell them what kind of transportation, just say yes. (if you don’t do this, you wont get the job , I’m telling you right now).
Research the company. Know what they do, why they do it, how OLD the company is. WHERE it was founded, and what kind of position you’re intending to apply for.
When they ask you “ give us a situation where you had to blah blah blah” Make one the fuck up. Make yourself sound good as hell, and like you put your company’s needs slightly above the customer’s needs, but make the customer happy.
If they ask you about being outgoing, Say you “like to focus on your work so you can concentrate on doing things right” (which buys you out of having to act friendly all the time)
Questions for after the interview:
1. Does this position offer upward mobility?
2. Do you enjoy working for the company? (if you’re not interviewing for a temp agency who will send you anywhere)
Then, shake their hand, Ask them to repeat their name (REMEMBER THIS) say thank you for your time, wish them a nice day and leave. write their name down outside if you have to, just remember the fuck out of it.
AFTER your interview, send a card directed to the name of the person who interviewed you (I’ll give you them) that says “Thank you for the interview, I appreciate the opportunity. have a great day” This shows that you have an understanding of professionalism, and will have them thinking of you kindly (or at least remembering you) when they’re shuffling through the choices.
DO NOT tell them you just moved to the city over the phone. In person, tell them you just moved to the city. Make it sound like the only reason you need a job is because you moved. Not because you’re desperate.

nkbstudies:
Hi everyone! Here’s my May Study Challenge. The tag for this challenge is #maysc. Please tag your posts for it with this tag so I can see them! Please don’t tag #heynay in your posts, as I’m reserving that tag for non-maysc posts that people want me to reblog! I’ll also be being a little more selective with what I reblog this month than I was with the April study challenge, but if you put it in the tag I’ll probably reblog it! Have a great month of May!
1. Describe where you want to be right now (academically or otherwise).
2. What’s your life philosophy, in one paragraph or less?
3. What are your goals for this month?
4. May is AP Exam season! What are your tips for studying for tests?

7. What is one good experience you’ve had within the last week?
8. Have any teachers changed your life?
9. How do you keep yourself motivated to study for a class when the teacher or professor is bad (i.e. mean or doesn’t teach effectively)?
10. How long do you spend studying and doing homework each day?
11. What is one thing that you did within the last month that you’re proud of?
12. How has the studyblr community affected your studying in real life?
13. What’s your favorite song at the moment?
14. What tips do you have for other students who are in your grade specifically (i.e. for high school or college freshmen/sophomores/juniors/seniors)?

16. What’s your favorite study method?
17. Do you prefer group projects or individual ones? Why?
18. Do you like background noise while studying, or do you prefer it to be silent? If you listen to music, what’s your playlist?

21. Do you prefer to write with pencil or pen? Why?

29. Why did you start a studyblr?
30. What inspires you?
31. Look back at your goals from day 3. How did you do?
April is coming to an end - now is the time to start thinking about doing my May Study Challenge, whether you were able to participate in the April one or not!
I’m going to try to do this throughout May along with more regular posting of my studying (maybe even a photo per day with each part of this challenge!!) 💗🌷🍃 I’ll be tagging all my posts with #maysc, #maysc2018, and #subitosciencemaysc ☺️
Ooohhh this looks like a really interesting challenge! And something new since I’ve done 100dop! I’m going to do this, with pictures where possible - tagging #maysc and #izymaysc 💖🐝
ooooh i think i might try this! never done anything like this before <3 going to use #maysc and #sapphmaysc and post pictures if i can!!
many days of productivity: day 1
so i’m going to try and do 100 days of productivity at some point, but for now i’m just going to see how many continuous days i can upload stuff
here: biology 6.1 notes on digestion and absorption, and maths chapter 7 differentiation (IB syllabus), both on my whiteboard with weird reflections
hell yes look who’s uploading
i did psychology and biology on some blank paper today and it looks great! i haven’t really uploaded much original stuff to my studyblr but i hope that’ll change!
........ uploaded to the wrong blog
Questions tag ~
I was tagged by @studeres - thank you so much for the tag!
1. How do you stay organised (if you do)?
I guess I always make sure I have enough time for everything? Well, for most things, at least… I usually write down all my homework too, with as much detail as possible (sometimes if I’m set an essay the teacher will give a few ideas/starting points and you always think you’ll remember them but never do, so writing it down can be really useful!) In terms of things like holidays where there’s a lot of work but a long time, I don’t like to have a plan for every day as that’s just setting myself up to fail, but if I have a general idea of what needs to be done and how long it will take, then I plan each day as it comes and it seems to work okay?
2. What’s your dream course at university, and where do you want to study it?
Music has been my dream course for years, although I’m currently considering music & philosophy more seriously. I’d love to go to Oxbridge - probably Cambridge - but that would take a lot of work and quite a bit of luck! My ultimate dream is to go to a conservatoire, but I don’t think that’s going to happen.
3. Who would you like to see in concert?
Ummm, so I’m not really a concert person, unless you count classical! There’s looaaadddss of violinists I want to see - I think my current biggest wish is Nicola Benedetti?
4. What’s the most interesting non-fiction book you’ve ever read?
Ooohhh, interesting! I think I’m going to go with ‘Sapiens’ by Yuval Noah Harari. It’s about the history of mankind - but has some really intriguing topics, like politics, equality and economics. I still need to finish it though! (oops)
5. If you could have any food right now, what would you have?
Hmmm… I’m not really feeling much rn but I guess something like strawberries?
6. What is your favorite stationery brand?
Pilot for pens and Stabilo for highlighters!
7. What are your goals this year?
Academically, to improve my productivity and get grades that I’m happy with - something like 36-40 without core points I think is my current aim? On top of that, I’m trying to do a little more exercise, as well as improve my relationship with myself and not punish / push myself too hard.
8. Do you do any sports?
I play hockey at school, but outside of hockey season (winter) I don’t do much, so I try to get some exercise in, like running and yoga and that kind of thing.
9. Who have you met thanks to the studyblr community?
I’ve gained some really lovely mutuals - although I don’t interact with you all nearly enough! @ all my followers reading this: thank you so much for following me and I appreciate you all and ahhhh tysm!!
10. What’s the weather like where you are?
It’s starting to get late in the evening so… cold XD but it’s just started to get warm again - today was really nice, actually!
I’m tagging @subitoscience @hippieinthehotrod @elliefluteelephant @sapphic-nd-studies @annabaestudying for the same questions - feel free to make you own though to give others! (I was just lazy oops but these are quite nice :) ) + you don’t have to if you don’t want to!
ooooohhh this is so interesting!! I’ll do this soon <3 and such lovely answers - pursue your dreams Izy! <3
aww thanks for the tag, this is so cool!! i’ll do this once i’ve finished the heck-ton of work that i have <3 <3 <3

11/03/18: Day 70/100 of my 100 Days of Productivity!! 📒✨☺️
Happy Mother’s Day to everyone in the UK 💫 I hope that everyone is having a good day!! ☺️
Apologies for the terrible photo quality in some of these, but oh well - I should focus on the quality of the studying today rather than the aesthetic, right? ☺️✨
Today I’ve actually managed to get quite a lot done, on top of visiting my grandparents and spending time with my family…!
• A reading session: ‘Life Unfolding’ 📚 • Completing lots of music work: composition, Bach Chorale work and completing my summarised notes for the Berlioz set work 🎶 • Completing lots of biology homework on the Cardiac Cycle and Risk Factors associated with Cardiovascular Disease before continuing my research into Statins 🔬 • Going over my biology and chemistry key term Quizlet cards on my phone 📱 • Piano Practice: lots of work on scales (and variations of for warm up exercises) before working on the first movement of Schubert’s Sonata in E Flat 🎹 • Chemistry Homework on measuring/calculating Enthalpy Changes as well as some extra work on Hess’ Law ⚗️ • A couple of maths exercise (8.4A, 8.4B) on Systems of Forces 📐 • Cello Practice: Popper 23, and then the first two movements of Elgar - polishing the final corners of the first and quickening my sautillé in the second after revisiting it since I haven’t focused on that movement recently 🎻 • Chemistry: neater notes for chapter 7 since I realised when checking and ordering my folder that they weren’t fully complete and were quite messy, so I’ve done them again! 📝
sO PRODUCTIVE WOW HOW ARE Y’ALL DOING THIS and that graph in the last picture is Literal Goals
11/3/18: 70/100 days of productivity
Happy mothers’ day for everyone in the UK! Here’s some things from today:
Breakfast ✨ it’s Sunday, so a break from Lent and I can eat chocolate - and I’m trying to face up to my fears about losing control and enjoy a fancy hot chocolate on top of my already fancy and yummy breakfast 💖
Meet Rosie the cat! She’s my neighbours’ cat who has about 5 different homes… but we had a nice little cuddle and she fell asleep on me for half an hour 😊
I’ve almost finished my philosophy essay about Kant’s categorical imperative and Utilitarianism!
Lunch - chicken noodle soup 🍜
I got lots of violin practice done and worked on the first movement of the Elgar violin sonata and the last movement of Bruch concerto 1🎻
Some further reading for philosophy from a magazine my philosophy teacher lent me ✨
70/100, wow!!! that cat is soooo cute :)
From my studyblr @eclogue-studies - a very music filled school day with 5 rehearsals, 3 music lessons and an hour of recording and editing. I think that’s a record, even for me!
so pretty!!!

why is the ib so goddamn overwhelming
on the verge of a panic attack rn
Day 35/100- Friday 6th March 2018
Most of my morning and school day was spent completing AP6, which I managed to finish before the deadline. One guy got let off for not doing it, which is always annoying, but I’ll let it slide.
After getting 4Bs, which is an improvement but not where I want to be, I’m very motivated to revise. This April to do list sheet is a… to do list for all of the topics I want completed by the end of that month. I’ll be filling this in later and making one for May. I’ll probably do a week by week plan for subtopics too.
I’m very excited for my Oxford study day next week, especially since we’ve got a provisional schedule. We’re having one academic session on NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry (glad I learned mass spectrometry in my own time), then another one on quantum mechanics! We also get a tour and an admissions talk. Chemistry is my favourite subject but my least favourite lesson at the moment, so I’m happy that I’ll be able to have an amazing lesson on some more advanced topics.
I’m curious- what are you all looking forward to, in terms of academics?
#100daysofproductivity #100daysofproductivitychallenge #studygram #studyblr #alevel #aslevel #chemistry #physics #maths #psychology #oxford #lettering #studyspo
that’s such a pretty purple!!!!! hope you get all the stuff done <3 <3 i’m really looking forward to getting further in chemistry and biology because they’re both so fun! :)
