white people cannot decide when poc are reaching when they make criticisms of people/media/trends/etc

white people absolutely cannot consider themselves allies if they dont listen to the voices of poc

white people need to listen to the voices of poc OUTSIDE of their friend group

white people need to be aware that their input in discussions of racism is not nearly as valuable as they think it is

white people benefit from racism, and should give careful thought to this fact if they truly desire to limit racism

criticisms of racism should never be characterized as an attack on a white person

when someone points out racism in your behavior, your reaction should be to at LEAST examine your behavior, not to defend yourself or look for excuses

when a discussion is going on about racism and some other type of oppression (lets say, for example, ableism), and you, a white and mentally ill person, want to contribute to the discussion, MAKE an EFFORT to at least ACKNOWLEDGE both types of oppression and not just ableism in your contribution, ESPECIALLY if youre disagreeing with a criticism of racism in mentally ill white people (in fact, if youre at all a white person denying the possibility of racism in your behavior you should probably keep your mouth shut <3)

white people truly dedicated to limiting racism need to take action to limit racism EVEN when its inconvenient! EVEN when it hurts their pride! EVEN when it doesnt seem significant! half assed allyship is not allyship

white people feeling a sense of pride over being an ally, self proclaimed or not, is fucking gross.

poc are not OBLIGATED to contribute to limiting racism

poc do not have to be nice to you for you to acknowledge them

poc do not owe you anything- not explanations, not guidance through your behavior, not empathy, not attention, not assurance, nothing

if you dont have any friends of color, or you dont seem to know any poc at all, theres likely a reason for that. examine it

if poc tend to be unfriendly toward you, theres DEFINITELY a reason for that oh my god

Ezell Ford, 25, was the oldest of seven children, he loved playing basketball. He had depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. He was shot by police in 2014 while walking by his home in south Los Angeles.

According to evidence, there was foul play (bite marks on her body), and it was suggested that Shukri jumped into the river to “cool off” despite that fact that she could not swim and that her mother said “everything about it is out of character for her…she couldn’t swim so she wouldn’t go near the edge.” Furthermore, there was a witness that came forward. I am asking for justice to be served, and that the individuals responsible are held accountable. Shukri Abdi was killed due to your negligence and inability to keep her safe. What Happened To Kendrick Johnson and Why People Are Demanding Answers Even Now

On Jan. 11, 2013, the body of 17-year-old Kendrick Johnson was found in the most unusual of circumstances: upside-down and rolled up in a school gym mat. The mysterious death of Kendrick Johnson was initially ruled an accident by law enforcement asserting the ridiculous theory that Johnson must have accidentally fallen into the center of the mat while reaching for a sneaker

Some inconsistencies in the case:

the black and white gym shoe that lay on the ground below Kendrick Johnson, the one he was presumed to be reaching for, was lying on top of a pool of blood, but there was no blood on the shoe itself.

A hoodie and a pair of orange and black gym shoes were also found lying on the floor of the gym 

traces of blood on the wall nearby that wasn’t Kendricks. 

A private pathologist revealed Kendrick Johnson had suffered hemorrhaging on the right side of his neck, which meant that he likely died from blunt force trauma

the second autopsy revealed that some of Johnson’s organs were missing and in their place, his body had been stuffed with newspaper.

A whole hour of footage from the gym was missing, right at the time which would have shed light on what happened that day

My mom’s friend was out shopping when a (very not asian) woman came up and started berating her for not wearing a mask. Asian businesses in my area are suffering. Some people are refusing to interact with anyone who looks Asian.

Asian-Americans have been through racism already. We’re fucking sick of it. We’re not flea-infested rats; we are actual people who most likely have never been to China.

And if you’re not Asian and see someone being racist and giving a poor schmuck a hard time for having squinty eyes and dark hair, tell them to knock it off and they’re being a butt.

find something to compliment someone for at least 4 times a day. notice the little things about the world that make you happy, and use that to make other people happy.

talk to people. initiate conversation as often as you possibly can. keep your mind busy and you wont have to worry anymore

picture the bad intrusive thoughts in youe head as an edgy 13 year old and tell them to go be emo somewhere else

Like every time I trip and fall, instead of saying “l’m just a disaster human” I say “I’m the epitome of grace and beauty”

Or like, when I draw a picture I’m not 100% happy with, instead of saying “my art is trash” I say something like “you know I think it’s time we replaced the Mona Lisa”

When you do that you get to make a joke, but you’re ALSO getting practice building yourself up, y’know?
