alex albon | post-race interview - belgium gp 2026
"The couple of last weekends," but Oscar TW said half of it is on the driver, not the straight-line speed issues.

George didn't blame Lewis on the radio and said it was a racing accident in his interview, Lewis apologised to George during his interview and said he'll text him.
The last time these two said a thing about Oscar, BOTH dnfed the same race, now add the other guy, so we'll take down all three soon!
This has to go down as the worst race of the season with the satanic podium I'LL KILL MYSELF
We are literally being robbed of a proper teammate title battle, and I am sick of it. Remember last year when both McLaren drivers were actively hunting each other down for poles and wins? Sure, luck fluctuated, but this is a different story. I live for intense teammate rivalry mixed with a third-party title fight, and this year looked perfect. Mercedes and Lewis, this is everything! but Mercedes’ sheer incompetence and unreliability are completely killing the fight.
What makes it ten times worse is their blatant lack of accountability. Publicly dismissing your driver when he says something is wrong with the car? Tell me this isn't clown behaviour? All it does is fuel the fire for the media and toxic fans to question his abilities instead of addressing the literal issues.
If the issues happened three times in ten races? Fine. New regulations, shit happens. But we're talking every. single. weekend. The moment one fire is put out, and another one starts. It’s not just a "he'll bounce" back. I've seen pure dominance when his car was fine. It's not this car doesn't suit his driving style. It’s pure negligence. This is arguably the most crucial season of his career. He is finally fighting for a championship, and the team is dragging their feet to fix or at least discover the issue? I know the team works hard, but does working hard pay off?
Instead of trusting the driver who is actually feeling the car on track, they blame him. The media and fans eat it up because looking at actual data is too much work for them, only for the team to quietly admit weeks later that shocker the driver was right all along it WAS ON US MY BAD.
Look at the other side of the garage. When their driver complain, the team doesn't question his driving style they rush to find what's wrong and fix it. There is actual trust and urgency there they're aware this isn't just any other season where all they care about is scoring podiums and a couple of wins and it's a season were they have a huge chance in battling and winning the championship, which is why they’re running away with it. The other garage has the exact same resources, so what is the excuse? This goes beyond incompetence.
I don’t remember Z*k Br*wn last year ever jumping on the radio to publicly dismiss his drivers' complaints, but he still gets his fare share of criticism.
And don't even get me started on the absolute lack of support. I will never forget Monaco when he fought on his OWN, or Canada where he literally DNFed from the lead and as far I'm aware they couldn't figure out the cause, yet when Kimi DNFed in Barcelona before Austria they knew why and fixed the car. This is ridiculous.
OP is spot on about the stuff regarding George/Mercedes/Toto, but the take on McLaren last year shows how good the media/team spin worked. I can't imagine holding up what McLaren did to Lando as balanced or fair. "Zak favors Lando and Andrea favors Oscar so it's balanced" is a WILD take - and something that shouldn't even happen if it were true. The team (Zak and Andrea both) constantly placed blame on Lando for things that weren't his fault, commented about his mental capabilities, and fed into the narrative that he was too emotional and not "strong" enough while his teammate was painted as some stone cold killer. The media spin really worked on y'all.
I mean, McLaren literally admitted to punishing Lando a chunk of the year for daring to actually race his teammate instead of trailing along and following their "rules" - except the telemetry showed that the fault in Lando's resulting wreck was Oscar's, not Lando's. The McLaren team strategist was also Oscar's personal strategist during this time. I could go on. But unless you pay attention to McLaren specifically, it was immediately forgotten when it came out because it looked so bad and conflicted with the narrative that was painted all over the media.
McLaren actively worked against Lando, Lando prevailed anyway, and only when it became too obvious, the truth "slipped out," and they were basically forced to let the garages operate individually did McLaren stop. You can see the immediate drop off that started when Oscar stopped receiving information/setups/strat discussion from Lando and no longer got default priority for qualifying runs and pit stops.
So yes. The take about George is completely correct and valid, but what OP (and the rest of us) are seeing now is the same BS and spin that happened to Lando last year. It's frustrating that George fans bought into the media spin and are still quoting it now, but maybe they'll realize the truth now that it's happening to their guy. I can only hope George is able to overcome like Lando and have the same outcome.
Hey, thanks for the detailed breakdown. You bring up incredibly valid points about the telemetry, the shared strategist, and how things shifted once the garages operated individually and I want to clarify my stance, because I think my original post was heavily focused on merc.
I by no means intended to claim that the mcl teammate battle last year was perfectly equal, nor do I believe the claim that Zak was favouring one driver and Andrea favouring another 'balanced things out.' I don't subscribe to that logic at all.
My intention was absolutely not to dismiss or minimize what Lando went through. I was one just as shocked and upset by how mcl weaponized his open honesty about his mental health to cover up their screw-ups. It was incredibly frustrating to watch the team paint his teammate as this perfectly composed 'stone-cold killer' while feeding a narrative to the media that Lando's issue was his mental health. It directly fueled toxic fan behaviour, leaving him wide open to horrific online bullying, being labelled 'too sensitive,' and worse. It was all to protect their image.
When I noted that the situation felt 'different,' I was looking at how the team bosses wield their power publicly. Mcl hid behind the constant PR spin of 'Papaya Rules', which I agree aren't nearly as fair as they claim.
The contrast I was trying to highlight with merc is that Toto Wolff doesn't face the same widespread scrutiny from the broader fanbase that Zak Brown does. Because Toto isn't as hated by the majority of the fans, he seems entirely comfortable being loud, aggressive, and highly public with his criticism and actively dismissing the complaints about the car on the radio and questioning the performance to the media.
I apologize to Lando fans if my post read like a dismissal of the narrative spin and immense pressure he survived last year. My focus was so heavily locked onto how merc is operating that I didn't articulate the mcl context with the nuance it deserved. You are completely right. The media spin worked heavily last year, and we are seeing the exact same playbook being used on George right now.
Toto and the media can say, "The smarter driver comes out fastest," all they want, but the data DON'T LIE!

Barcelona-Catalunya quali and gp you'll always be mourned
They'll fix the car before quali, and we'll be dropping 5 tenths on the rest? I LIKE THIS!! Break it, patch it up, and it'll work better.
I'm so glad he's okay. That was a scary accident, and I hope they can fix the car before quali
I don't want to be negative about George's current position in Mercedes, but I feel like I'm seeing the parallels I've seen before with Lewis, and I hate this.

Yes, car 63 is only faster than Cadillac and Aston Martin! Car 63 is a Mercedes, but no one will try and raise some questions or look at the data because this isn't normal, even if the tyres are cold you don't lose this much, how are you 1.2s behind?? On the "SOFTS," how is that on your own? This is ridiculous. I dare T*rger to come out and say some bs.
Lewis Hamilton is now following Racing Bulls on Instagram, he doesn't even follow his team 😭😭 *nvm he unfollowed*
