Princeanxious you might recognize the story in the works you helped me to get the confidence to start, the Lies and Morality, not this story. Though I havenât put out the chapters yet. Iâve been working on them in my off time!

Deceit smirked slightly as he stood behind Logan, watching as he made a few adjustments to the schedule before him. The precious note-cards were scattered about the floor around the trashcan, some of them inside, most of them outside. Haphazardly discarded in the fastest manner he could think of to get the objects away from him. Despite usually being important to him theyâd been thrown in a fit of⌠rage and fear as soon as heâd reached his room and locked the door.
Much to Loganâs dismay a certain snake was waiting for him. Once heâd recognized the lying side was there, after heâd thrown his cards away from himself, heâd sat down and grit his teeth, focusing on anything except the other person in his room. He was irked that Deceit had seen his little emotional outbursts, both in the video and now in the privacy of his room.
âI didnât tell you it would go that way.â Deceit said as he shifted moving slightly to Loganâs left side leaning closer. He wouldnât let Logic drown him out and ignore him this time.
âI didnât warn you that you should let out all your feelingsâhe said, his voice soft and soothing. He shifted to the right side of Logic, who was, attempting to continued to, steadfastly ignore the hissing snake. He didnât need those truths lies sinking in deeper under his skin. Heâd seen the truth, experienced it, only a short while before. He would regain his control, and resume dealing with those pesky emotions the way he always had.
âI think itâs pathetic you only injured his eye and not more.â Deceit continued, his warm breath coiled around Logicâs ear and the other side shivered ever so slightly. It shouldnât have been impressive that heâd held back that much. Logic should never give in to his emotions. He should never have thrown that card and injured Roman! He sighed, with the way Deceit was practically laying on his shoulders he knew the other wouldnât leave until he paid him a small amount of attention. He pushed himself back from his desk and turned glaring at the other side.
âEnough Deceit. What do you want? Iâm busyâ Logan snapped, his voice barely controlled ire directed at the yellow eyed man. Deceit grinned more as he shifted back to accommodate Loganâs change of position.
âI only want to hinder you in your effort to control your emotions!â He said in a mock hurt voice. Deceit put his hand on his chest, a pale imitation of Romanâs usual âextranessâ as he looked at Logan grinning more. If heâd hoped that Logan would be amused at the antics he was disappointed as the glare never wavered. Figured. Deceit sighed and dropped his pretenses crossing his arms across his chest.
âI do not happen to know a side that is willing to help you. They are not someone I have spoken to many times, and they are not in agreement with your line of thought that Logic should have less control over their emotions.â He said in an annoyed tone. He tapped his foot on the floor as he spoke, an odd bitter tone hinting at his words, along with a tone of exhaustion that seemed to be creeping in as well.
âAnd I love playing the messenger between you both.â he added under his breath, though he seemed to flinch a sharp intake of breath accompanying the action. Logan, however, for once was distracted enough he didnât notice the odd action. One of the sides agreed with him? That his emotions were extra and pointless? He pondered the thought, it obviously was a dark side, or he would know about them already. Even with his knowledge, the darksides remained fairly well hidden thanks to Deceit, and Thomasâs unwillingness to acknowledge them. Â
Logan stood up and began to pace his room, what darksides did he already know of? Deceit, Rage, Lust, those he knew were there. He thought there might be Depression, but only because of Anxiety, the two often went together, although one didnât depend on the other. Thomas could very well have Anxiety with out a trace of depression, or he could even develop it later! What other sides could there be? Â What side could possibly agree, and be willing to assist Logan in getting rid of his emotions? Honestly it was almost an infinite amount of possibilities considering that Thomas was human, and emotions and functions and well dysfunctions were vast. Â He stopped finally, his teeth nibbling his bottom lip. Well no matter the side, if they resided in the Darksides area, and were not strong enough to even be known about then there should be no harm in meeting them.
âVery wellâ Logan said looking at Deceit whoâd started to idly stare at his gloves, as if studying his nails. Deceit looked up surprised for a moment before he simply smiled
âThis is not wonderful news. Lets goâ He said holding out his hand. Logan sighed, but took it. It was much easier for a Darkside to sink into their part of the mindscape then it was for a Lightside to do so alone, Virgil and Deceit being the current exceptions to the rule.
Once they were in the Darksidesâs Mindscape, Deceit began to lead him down the hall. Logan shivered slightly it was always a bit colder in the Darksideâs area. The colors muted, the lights dimmer. How Anxiety had ever survived being in this area with his panic attacks Logan wasnât sure. The atmosphere couldnât have been helpful when he needed to calm down, or when he was on the verge of an attack. He shook the thoughts from his head as he waked down the quiet hall with Deceit.
He was led deeper and deeper into the Darksides Mindscape. Logan was starting to have second thoughts, this was getting uncomfortably close to the subconcious, and that could be dangerous to any side.
âHereâ Deceit said stopping. The door was a plain grey door, not really big or small. There were a few markings carved into the wood, but nothing stood out. It was as if the door was trying to be a door and invisible at the same time. Deceit lifted his hand and knocked
âCome inâ a voice called out after a few moments. Deceit opened up the door and stepped in. Logan followed him, looking around at the room. A bed, a dresser, a chest, two doors. He presumed one to a closet and one to a bathroom. The entire room was done in a off grey/blue color. The walls were only a shade lighter then the floor, and the bed and dresser had been painted a flat grey color. Nothing stood out, nothing stuck to the mind.
âI brought Logic, heâs not curious to hear what you have to say.â he said. Infront of Logic stood another side. Like all of them he looked like Thomas, with his own quirks. The brown hair was lackluster and lay limply on his head. His eyes were a washed out looking light brown. As if they could be brown, but had a slight film over them. The side smiled ever so slightly, pale lips stretched out, and his skin was paler then Thomasâs, but darker then Virgils, over all he just looked⌠washed out.
âThank you so much Deceit. You know how hard it is for me to go that far. I appreciate you taking the time to go and get him for me!â He said. While there were slight inflictionâs in his tone and manner of speaking, the other sounded nearly monotonous. Â Deceit simply nodded and left the room. The door closed behind him and after a few moments a thud was heard from the hall. Logan turned sharply looking at the hall.
âSounds like Rage is back, heâs got this silly habit of hitting my wall when he comes around. â the other trait said. He stood around the same height as Logan, his clothing was a simple button down shirt in the pale grey/blue color, and a pair of grey slacks.
âitâs such a pleasure to meet you Logic, Iâve wanted to for so long, but it really is more effort then I can afford for me to stray too far from my room. â he said. Logan nodded tightly
âAnd you would be?â he asked quietly.
âOh my manners Iâm sorry! Iâm Apathy! And I very much want to help you Logic!â He said, sounding the most enthusiastic now then he had before. Logan frowned
âApathy. It means indifference, lack of interest, lack of enthusiasm, lack of concern, unconcern, uninterestedness, unresponsiveness, impassivity, dispassion. That does not sound like what I am looking for.â Logan said cooly crossing his arms. Apathy laughed slightly
âCome now Logic! Iâm sure one with such knowage as you knows the orgin! âHe grinned at the Logic side. Logan paused and nodded. Of course he knew
â It is from the early 17th century: from French apathie, via Latin from Greek apatheia, from apathÄsâ He said to him stiffly as he realized where this was going. His mouth felt dry as he continued to speak
âOr.. âwithout feeling,â from a- âwithoutâ + pathosâ He had to stop and clear his throat slightly
âWith out âsuffering.â â He said quietly. He stared at Apathy as if trying to understand why one who was with out feelings, would want to help him. That didnât make logical sense. As if understanding what train of thought Logic was having, Apathy nodded a bit.
âExactly! Iâm more then just Apathy too of course! Just like youâre more then Logic, and Anxiety is more then that! âHe said to him.
âSo I want to help youâ he added. He put an arm around Logan
âWhy donât you sit for a bit and we can chat?â he asked smiling wider. After a long few moments Logic nodded. There was never harm in listening and learning more.
âWonderful! We can get some drinks and chat!â Apathy said to Logan.
Despite the fact the effort hurt his cheeks,Apathy kept it up. He was pleased with how things were going. There was no point in having to get up and run around and do things when you had a puppet. Unseen to Loganâs eyes golden yellow threads connected to his left hand moved his exhausted puppet back to his room after heâd collapsed in the hall. Sure Deceit was the puppet master, always playing with his strings. But it really wasnât all that uncommon for the master to become tangled now was it. And once one could get hold of the threads and pull the knots in the right direction, well Puppets made his life so much easier. Pull a few threads and mouth a few words and the puppet did all the work! And having the one âIn Chargeâ Of the Darksides under your control? Well that made bringing the others to order easier, and less dangerous as Deceit was the one they saw pulling the threads, he was the one who got the bruises when something went wrong. Apathy loved it, he got to lounge around and pull strings and reap all the rewards.
This last video had given Apathy the perfect inn though on the light sides. Heâd only needed to find the one perfect little chink in Logicâs armor, and harming another side physically had been it. Heâd had Deceit weeding away at his self control for a couple weeks now. Slipping in when Logic was at his most exhausted, and most vulnerable. Whispering about control and lack of it, and what would happen if he slipped. And then you add a dash of Rageâs energy and the dominoâs all fell on their own. Apathy barely had to lift his fingers.
Already his energy was slowly working itâs way into Logicâs mind and body. The sharp blue taking on a faded out hue on the very edges. Soon enough heâd have a new puppet on the Light Sides, and he could work on getting them all under his thumbs as well.
Just because he was Apathy, didnât mean he wasnât ambitious.
