I’m re-posting this because of that shit-show post that got wrecked due to mis-information and because I care deeply about Senior Dogs, who have far fewer chances out there and deserve any visibility they can get without being labeled a red-ex scam.

I’ve been planning on rebooting this blog for a while but only got off my ass to do so recently when I had the time and motivation to do so. I made the decision to move mainly because when I first started this blog, I knew nothing about rping and how to organize my shit and everything was just all over the place. It’s basically spring cleaning if you will!

I’ve also decided to make the muses fandomless, which means Samhain is no longer a part of the ROTG verse however I can still rp him as a Guardian if that’s what my partner would like for a thread.

I will be circulating this post a lot and archiving this blog shortly after I feel like I’ve moved enough stuff over.

A trickster is a figure who “exhibits a great degree of intellect or secret knowledge and uses it to play tricks or otherwise disobey normal rules and conventional behaviour.”1 They upset normal hierarches and expectations of behavior.

The trickster god breaks the rules. Sometimes this is done maliciously or with negative intentions, but the mischief usually winds up with ultimately positive effects in the end.

Tricksters are often:

foolish

funny

male (although the Trickster is often more flexible with regards to their sex or gender)

However, they are often also considered sacred, or have important cultural tasks attributed to them (such as the Native American and First Nations mythologies where the coyote or raven stole fire from the gods and brought it to mankind).

In cultures featuring two figures who create the world complementarily, one figure often is the Trickster. There is great diversity in these myths, as the two figures might:

compete or collaborate in creation;

be conceived neutrally or framed as good vs. evil;

be of the same importance or differentiated as powerful vs. weak; or

be brothers (occasionally even twins) or not related at all.
