This is literally all I want in terms of Destiel in The Winchesters.
It’s the end of the episode, we’re getting Dean’s little narration monologue, which pauses abruptly, mid sentence: “The thing with family is—”
The scene changes to a close up on the page of a journal, the last few words on the page are those we just heard in the voice over: “The thing with family is—”
A pen scratches the paper, trying to write the next letter, but nothing happens, it’s out of ink.
“Damn it.” Camera cuts to Dean, who is sprawled out, boots and all, on a bed. The room is dark, he’s writing only by tte light of the bedside lamp. Dean turns his head to the side, looking into the darkness. “Hey, you got a pen over there?”
“Uh— yes, Dean. I think so.” The camera pulls back, revealing Castiel, under the covers, reading a book (A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara) His tie is loose, his shirt unbuttoned a bit lower than usual. His coat is draped along the foot of the bed. Castiel sits up, and, setting his pen aside, reaches into his bedside table. He pulls out a pen and hands it to Dean before flopping back down on the mattress and finding his spot in his book.
“Thanks, Cas.” Dean takes the pen as the camera continues to pull back, revealing more details about the room. It’s unclear whether it’s a bedroom in a home, or just some motel — but what is clear is that there is only one bed in that room.
As Winchester puts pen to paper, the voiceover resumes: “The thing with family is that it endures. The people you need, the people you love, you’ll find each other along the road, and good-byes are only ever temporary.”
End the last scene of the first season.
