Like, I’m not necessarily talking realism here since often it’s still pretty far from realistic, but more like, “someone has to be running spies in this fantasy kingdom, and we’ve seen the whole royal court, so which background character is it? How does that change these three major interactions?” Or “real life historical nobility did in fact have some things to do that were like jobs, how does this human disaster cope with running an estate?” Or “there’s no reason for a sci-fi robot detective to know how to whitewater kayak, where’d she learn?” Or “if this guy is serving the emperor directly he has to be way high up in the space empire servant hierarchy, why is he doing this menial task for someone else? What’s his motive? Does he perhaps have the secret space telepathy?”

The federal government cannot interfere with state’s voting and board of elections, it is unconstitutional and was defended as recently as a few days ago Jan 9 2026 (Politico link). The arguments that it’s not worth it or won’t happen will get louder and worse because the far right know that they are losing power.

His most famous hoax was born of being fed up with arbitrary "lists" which determined the existence and approval level of media pieces, particularly the NY Times Bestseller List. In 1956, he asked his listeners to go into their local bookstore and ask for a non-existent book called "I, Libertine" by Frederick R. Ewing.

It went 1950s viral. So many of his listeners asked after the book, published alleged excerpts, discussed it in literary circles, and planted references to it so widely that people actually believed it existed. There were even rumors that somebody tried to get it on the NY Times Bestseller List based on word-of-mouth demand.

Plot Twist: SOMEBODY WROTE THE BOOK. Based on Shepherd's basic plot outline and a compilation of the various bits and bobs provided by the public, contemporary author Theodore Sturgeon wrote a full-length novel version of "I, Libertine" and published it under the previously-established pseudonym Frederick R. Ewing.

So, Aeo and I were talking about Raihu physiology. It got to be pretty interesting! After all, they’re based off of a velociraptor-type design, they’re warm-blooded, but they live in the desert. So how do they keep cool?

One idea is to add a small ridge or spine on the back that can provide a way to get rid of excess heat, sort of like how a fennec fox has super large ears to dissipate heat.

Another thing I’m going to change is that their hearts are much larger, and more powerful. After all, raihu are powerhouses. They’re built for strength and endurance. So to aid in this, they have large lungs and hearts, with 3 extra chambers in the heart.

I’m thinking that somehow maybe their horns could play a role in dissipating heat, since the resonance chambers inside could potentially cool blood flow. But there’s no blood in their horns (which are super strong, despite being hollow due to the material being similar to carbon fiber).

This is one of the things I love the most about being a writer - world design!!! Ever since I opened Rolas 6 years ago, I’ve been taken on a journey to discover this world. Every question a member asked prompted me to delve deeper into the world in order to provide an answer. It’s a challenging, but exciting thing to do.

So how would a raihu look with a small spinal ridge? Any thoughts? I think maybe next we’ll look at juna or lorren design. I don’t think Rolas will ever be completely finished, because it’s always expanding and growing the more we add to it.
