Another round of debunking
There are people in this fandom that keep and keep spreading misinformationĀ that has no basis in reality which a lot of people seem to take for the truth just because it has been repeated often enough.
The series creator Eric Kripke has never called Dean Winchester straight. In a round table interview in Comic Con in 2013, in just one of many, he spoke of his thematic of unstated homoerotic subtext in his work, paralleling the brothers Sam and Dean to the characters Sebastian and Miles from his new show Revolution, which was the topic of the interview, and he called Sebastian and Miles straight guys. He did not call Dean Winchester a straight guy. At no point did he call Dean Winchester a straight guy. He has never called Dean Winchester a straight guy in any recorded interview in the last eleven years. Eric Kripke has, however, confessed on his own twitter account that he used Hellblazer, Good Omens, American Gods, and Sandman as his inspiration for The Pilot episode. These influences have something in common.
The two other show runners have never commented on Dean Winchesterās sexuality at all. Sera Gamble described the show as the epic lovestory of Sam and Dean.
It also falsely claimed that all the writers either think Dean Winchester is straight (which is naturally unverifiable but extremely unlikely), or that all the writers have in fact said that Dean Winchester is straight.
The only writer that is quoted on having described Dean Winchester as heterosexual is Ben Edlund ā according to Jensen Acklesā 2013 Jus in Bello convention appearance. This claim was made in reference to the same scene (8.13) that Ben Edlund himself, in his own words, describes on the DVD commentary of being a romantic comedy kind of fluster and that Dean and Aaron could come together, agreeing with the director Phil Scriggia that thereās potential for love in all places for him.
Robert Berens approves of fans thinking that Dean likes both dick and vag in French.
Robbie Thompson once tweeted āDestiel isnāt canon? ;)ā and has since deleted the tweet.
Cathryn Humphris thought Nick the Siren was based on āDeanās perfect mateā.
Adam Glass is of the opinion that youāre free to interpret the story as you damn well like.
That is all we know about the opinions of the writers even tangentially related to Dean Winchesterās sexuality. And this is only a small handful of writers. Not one of the writers currently writing for the show has ever called Dean Winchester straight, not once, not anywhere that can be verified.
In the interest of not falsely presenting the evidence, I will also add that the director Guy Norman Bee has stated on twitter that Destiel is not the story. He was, however, not commenting on Dean Winchesterās sexuality.
The only person that has claimed that Dean Winchester is not bisexual is Chad Kennedy, the director of current programming at Warner Brothers. His opinions, however, do not reflect those of the CW or the creators of Supernatural, as his twitter disclaimer was subsequently changed to state.
Reblogging for your viewing pleasure, because this is the first post Iāve seen with actual receipts. Deanās orientation can be debated endlessly, legitimately, but the argumentĀ āhe/she/they said he was straight!ā cannot be used if you want to be taken seriously. :)
Thanks for putting this in one post!
I also want to add that itās canon in the very text of the show, mostly in episodes by Robbie Thompson that fan interpretation is valid and vital.
walter white was really like. yes my wife is 12 years younger than me. yes we met while she was still in undergrad and had a baby together when she was 23 and I was 35. yes my best and only friend is a 20something yr old addict who used to be my high school student. no this does not say anything about me as a person.
Remember when joining fandom as a younger person meant lurking for a bit and figuring out the vibe and etiquette instead of coming in on day one and calling people weirdos for liking weirdo shit in the weirdo factory.

look I know we all seem to understand on a deep level that Jesse absolutely deserves a happy, healthy life with his new identity in Alaska buuuut idk!! sometimes I also want a post canon Jesse who is still being eaten alive by his past lol. like give me a Jesse who can't sleep without leaving on every single light in his house. Jesse who can't stand even the jingling sound his car keys make bc it reminds him of the clink of a chain. Jesse who catches whiffs of Mr. White's aftershave and pencil shavings in random places and is momentarily paralyzed with fear (and probably some other less accessible more complicated emotions as well let's be real.) Jesse who still wretches at the sight of any kind of harness. Jesse who doesn't even drink alcohol anymore bc he doesn't want to let any of his defenses down even for a moment. Jesse who still secretly feels like he's being hunted and pursued by dangerous men. the way he tenses when any man over a certain age makes small talk with him at the hardware store. idk. post canon jesse is such an interesting area to explore, I always love hearing everyone's ideas about him
In a lot of ways it feels like El Camino is lying to the viewer. That it's Jesse consciously omitting and erasing things he doesn't want the audience to see. You don't get to see him getting tortured, you don't get to see what Todd or anyone else does to him beyond flashes and implications, you don't get to see him mourning Walt.
Even the ending feels like an omission. A dream where the line between reality and death is blurred.
People say "at least Jesse survived," but honestly, I don't think he did.
BrBa//Lolita
I dont know who the hell the B stands for but god its disgusting that you ship anyone with Dib. Thats a whole ass child, freak. Wanted to follow for the Pokemon content but you're out here shipping whatever the fuck badr is. Dont fucking ship the kids with irkens jesus christ
HUH????? BADR IS MY NAME ITS A NAME IN ARABIC I DONāT EVEN WATCH ZIM DUGDHBCHBVHJVFH WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU ON
this is what you guys get for naming ships in your show in such a stupid way
same energy
holy trinity
I had to go looking up the first one just to figure out what the hell was going on.Ā Apparently the Invader Zim fandom constructs their ship names as Initial+a+Initial+F/R (for Friendship or Romance) so ZaDR would be Zim and Dib Romance.Ā Thatāsā¦a really weird way to do ship names.
ok that explains some of this mess
Hello.
On the subject of AI, I have a confession to make: I use it. Not to write for me, but to help me check for inconsistencies, to brainstorm ideas, to write outlines, to give me a couple of lines when I've been stuck for hours, to be my beta reader, if you will. Generative AI is bad? Yes, but it also a useful tool if one isn't lazy. I don't ask: write me a story. I go with my story and ask: help me with continuity. Look, this paragraph is clunky, how do I make it better? The demonization of generative AI is fair, but to be honest, I also understand people who use it. Maybe they're afraid of writing themselves, maybe they're insecure and don't trust their prose. Maybe they have brilliannt ideas but they need help to make them become fics.
To me, this is very much connected to my last ask where I was talking about how we don't have enough mentors in fandom to support the influx of people entering it.
All of the things that you're asking AI to do used to be done by a beta reader (or more than one!). A fandom friend (or even a random stranger who volunteered) would read through your work and help you with those issues.
Betas are amazing. They can help with grammar and spelling. They can regionalize language. They can provide sensitivity reading if they're from a marginalized community that you're writing about and aren't a member of. They can track canon, help with research, even just be a sounding board to discuss ideas with.
And sometimes, they're just a cheer reader - someone reading your story and telling you how awesome it is because they love it just as much as you do.
I understand turning to AI if you 1) don't know beta readers exist or 2) don't know how to obtain one. The need for that kind of support doesn't go away just because you can't access it.
But for anyone out there who needs this kind of help and wants to avoid Gen AI, you can write a post on your blog, add it to an author's note, check out resources like @needabeta or - if the time of year is right and you have the funds - place a bid on beta reading services during @fandomtrumpshate
Beta readers are often involved in fandom events like big bangs and exchanges, and if anyone is looking to host such an event, it's a great way to get people involved who aren't writers or artists but would love to help out.
I get it, anon. We use the tools that are available to us. But here's another potential tool if you're interested in branching out?
[screenshot] it was too perfect

The anti has two accounts here BTW the other one has a double i
Omg sorry this is late but Iām gonna answer all my asks in my inbox soon. If you donāt mind can you (or anyone else) can tell me which second account it is via inbox or my dms Iāll reblog the last post I made with the other account they use!
I'm tired of that dumbfuck zutaranti taking screenshots of everything I wish I had a gun
LMAOOOO. For context to anyone confused, thereās a Twitter user called zutaraanti that literally screenshots zk tweets, tags you for engagement bait and essentially just dogpiles you. Their entire account is literally just hating zk and anyone who ships it. Every single time I think weāre in the clear, that account keeps SS our posts so their attack dogs can harass us. I remember they did it to my Harutara hair post I made, which led to oomf getting harassed for days. Not to mention the stupid ass fake drama with oomfs @draxofoy beautiful art. What did they take a screenshot of now š?
THE CULPRIT HAS FOUND ME
I normally donāt make posts like these on my account, but please block this account (@/zutaranti) for your peace and enjoyment zk family. Theyāre on Twitter as well if any of yall have it (and I still have the extensive block list from one of my oomfs if anyone needs it for a harassment-free time on Atlatwt)
apparently there's a new massive anti in the zutara tag causing shit and listen, from a fandom old:
don't argue with them, starve them.
don't respond to their shit. don't give them air. don't argue with them, even when their arguments are infuriating bullshit. ignore them, block them. if they send you hate or send their friends to attack you, delete the messages and comments and block them. free blocklist. they don't "win" if they get you to block them, they win if you engage.
don't feed the trolls.
trolling like that is not a thing that, like, okay people do. it's either someone who is genuinely just an asshole looking to hurt people or someone who is going through some shit and making it everyone else's problem, and either way, arguing with them accomplishes nothing. just ignore them. block them. delete the comments, the asks. block the people who reblog the post with their shit. it's not your problem. they're the ones being the assholes here, but engaging with them - even when you're making good points - just gives them more air to set fire to.
block that asshole. block them until the whole tag has blocked them, and block every sockpuppet they make, too. this is our sandbox, and if they don't like it, they can go to a different one, not take a shit in ours.
Buck: So me and Eddie are getting married so i can adopt Theo.
Chim: What if they catch you????
Buck: Catch us what?
Chim: You know.... lying?
*Eddie and Buck look at eachother*
*Hen looks at Chim*
Chim: What?

iāve mentioned this here before, but it will remain one of the most ideologically influential experiences of my life: when i was in fifth grade i did a report on post traumatic stress as manifested in veterans of the vietnam war, and my father did me the huge favor of connecting me w/ a vietnam vet friend of his who was diagnosed with PTSD, assuring him that while i was only ten i was bright and curious and he should be as honest with me about his experience as possible.Ā
i remember entering his office with my tape recorder, sitting in a chair that was too big, and asking him questions about war, and his life after war, while swinging my legs over the edge of the chair. i remember being very, very quiet as he spoke of pulling the car over on the highway for fear of crashing when his hands would shake uncontrollably in response to song on the radio or a smell that he couldnāt be sure was real or sense-memory. and of ruined relationships and anger and american hypocrisy.Ā
and i also remember that was the day i learned whatĀ āvalorā meant. he usedĀ āvalorā in a sentence and i didnāt know that word, and when i asked him to explain āvalorā he became very quiet. and i canāt remember precisely what he said, if he ever offered me the dictionary definition or not, but i do remember him looking very sad, and saying something about our countryās idea of āvalorā, and also something about a broken promise. and there was an edge to his words that i couldnāt parse at the time that i would later come to understand was bitterness, that he sounded bitter.Ā
to this day i canāt hear or read the wordĀ āvalorā without seeing sunlight coming through his office window at a slant, close-to-sunset light, and feeling the kind of quiet, confused, completely internalized panic a child feels when they sense that a grown up is trying very hard not to weep in their presence.Ā
