👀👀👀 any sasunaru fic recs? absolutely love your work btw ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ahhhh, thank you! Unfortunately, I also mostly love my own sasunaru works, lmao.
My heydays of reading Naruto fic were some 20 something years ago, back on fanfic.net, and I frankly don't remember anything, apart from vague memories of what I used to write there lol. If anyone remembers a stupidly long highschool AU in which Sasuke is a famous singer who uses his music to find his childhood friend Naruto, that was mine, ahaha.
I have recently been trying to find some newer works, but few things really stuck out to me. I also tend to read a lot of gen stuff (character studies, whump, etc.) so there are few sasunaru works that come to mind.
However:
the vines that grow by GreatLoversLieInHell
Read this last year and really enjoyed the world building (especially the exploration of Naruto's Uzushio heritage), Naruto's characterization, and the general sns dynamic. It feel very real and mature, and I've been meaning to reread it because my overall memory is a bit foggy on the details.

This is entirely from Hinata's perspective and the sasunaru is technically only briefly mentioned. But Sasuke's presence (and how it ruined NaruHina's marriage) is so expertly woven throughout it all, that you can easily fill in the blanks yourself. Hinata is not a character I care for at all, but her bitterness and finally finding her footing makes for a very compelling, mature read.

I bookmarked this when I was writing Naruto fanfic on Ao3 around 12 years ago. I don't really remember anything about it, but I do remember that it was one of the few works I tried reading back then that I enjoyed. No guarantees, but I don't bookmark things willynilly, so I figured I might include it here.
So yeah, a very short list unfortunately. I am pretty picky and I've found that few works in the Naruto fandom quite hit the sweet spot for me. However, I have some stuff marked for later and, while I don't have a lot of time for reading atm, I will add anything that I found worthwhile.
Unfortunately, for me the Naruto fandom is cursed with a lot of "premises/tags that I find compelling but that are poorly written" versus "great writing but the story does not interest me at all."
Which is one of the reasons, why I have been writing so much, lol. Write what you want to read, and all that. I have unexpectedly written 12k of fem!Sasuke within a span of two days, someone get me out of here.
